Ever since the tragic death of Laurie and Jacob, Andy had been undeniably lonely. He'd tried jumping back in the dating pool but, after having been married for so long and given the way he lost his wife, it just didn't feel right. Besides, all of the women in town knew what happened to his wife and son. All the women in the state probably knew what happened to his wife and son. And that alone made dating difficult, but when you add in the fact that so many women were trying to learn the intimate details of his son's case or his family's death, it just left him with a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach. So, he swore off dating. But he was still lonely.
He'd spent so many years with someone by his side. Now his bed was cold. Sometimes, most of the time really, he still made room in bed like his wife would still be there, ready to curl up in his arms as they entered their dreamlands. He'd still buy enough groceries to feed a family of three. He still parked his car in a way that left enough room for Laurie's car to be parked beside it.
Dating was out of the question, but Andy needed someone to fill the void in his life.
He just didn't know how to do that. That is, until he recalled one of the interns at the DA's office remarking about how she'd gotten a sugar daddy to help pay for her bills while she was finishing her degree. Andy hadn't given it much thought then, but now the idea was becoming increasingly more tempting. Becoming a sugar daddy. It didn't seem like such a bad idea. He would have someone to take care again, someone to keep him company. He could establish more clear boundaries than he felt he could than when he was dating (he did that once on a date, and the woman chewed him out for being a bastard or something, never mind the fact that she was practically begging to know every last detail about how his family died). Yeah, maybe this wouldn't be so bad.
For a week, he looked into how to become sugar daddy. He looked into websites, what to do and how to pick a sugar baby. But he started to get too into his own head, nearly talking himself out of it countless times. If he was going to do this, he was just going to have to jump in headfirst. If it didn't work out, he could stop it. But he'd never know that it wasn't going to work if he didn't at least try.
That's how he met you.
You were looking for a sugar daddy after your university increased its tuition. Suddenly, paying for school became a whole lot more difficult, given that your scholarship money stayed the exact same. Adding onto the fact that you already had a heavy course load, which made taking on a part-time job near impossible, you needed a relatively easy way to make money fast. When he saw your profile on the site, he was sure you were the one. He didn't even need to look at any others. A meeting was set up, and the rest was history.
