I was extremely happy to wake up this morning. Only problem, I woke up late. Super late. Yesterday, Finn texted me and we were going to go to a small café together. I was so excited I wasn't sure if I could get ready but, I pulled through and climbed out of bed.
I ran over to my closet, picking out the cutest outfit I could find. (That's up to you) I quickly changed out of my pajamas and into my new outfit, moving very quickly. I sat down and started to do my makeup.
I did a very simple look, some winged eyeliner, a light blush, and some lip gloss. My hands fumbled with my shoes before finally slipping them on. I tied the laces (or didn't) and rushed into my bathroom to brush my teeth.
"Y/n! Someone's here for you!" My mom shouted. I panicked and brushed my teeth faster. I quickly rinsed my mouth and fixed my hair one last time. Then, I calmed myself and walked downstairs.
Finn was wearing a Seahawks hoodie and some jeans. He looked so effortlessly beautiful. He grinned at me for a moment before my mom urged us out the door. "See you later!" I nodded and waved her goodbye.
Finn led me to down the sidewalk. "I hope it's okay, I left my skateboard in your lawn." I nodded and kept my eyes forward. "It's totally fine, don't worry about it." He nodded and stuffed his hands into his pockets.
"So, how's school?" He asked. "It's alright, I guess... Boring, a lot of kids don't like me-" "-because of fame?" Finn finished. I nodded and let a sigh out, it felt good to have someone who understands me. "I'm sorry.." he murmured, "I know it sucks." I nodded, I didn't have to tell him twice. "So, how's work?" He stayed quiet for a minute.
"It's good, tiring. I wish people would stop with Fillie because her new boyfriend hates it. I hate it too but, she and I have kinda learned to just block it out I guess." I sympathized for him. "I'm sorry." I knew I had nothing to be sorry for but, neither did he and he apologized to me. It just felt right.
"That's alright... I'm just glad I don't get fucking trampled here. We can just chill, y'know?" I nodded and looked up at him. He must've had a beanie in his pocket because he now had one on his head. The snow was still falling a little, making the whole thing seem magical. Finn nudged my shoulder a little, "Yeah?" I looked away. He pushed his beanie onto my head, covering my eyes. He chuckled and I pushed it up, it was so warm. "Thanks.." I added, silently very happy. "What're friends for?" That word. Oh god that word! It felt like a knife to the heart... We just met each other so it's good we're friends but I can't wait till we're more. He pulled open a glass door and let me in. "Thank you." He nodded and followed behind me. This place was so cute! It had such a nice old-timey aesthetic and it was so romantic, in a way. Finn and I sat down at one of the tables in the back and took our jackets off. The snowflakes in his hair were melting into water, making his curls a little damp. He brushed the water droplets out as best he could then grinned. "You're going to love this place, it's amazing." I nodded and made eye contact with the waitress. Finn was sitting with his back to the front of the shop and I was sitting with my back to a wall. The lighting complemented his skin so well. Again, effortlessly beautiful. "Thank you." Finn passed me a menu and I nodded a thanks. I studied for a minute before giving up deciding what I wanted. "What're you getting?" I asked. He pointed down at the carrot cake. "Probably this and a hot cocoa. It's what I usually get." I decided I would go with the cheapest things which, in the end, were the carrot cake and the cocoa. "I'll probably get the same." He shut the menu and I shut mine, handing it to him. We sat for a moment in silence before I spoke up. "So, how's Poppy?" His smile lit up the whole room. "She's good. She's just kinda cooling it, y'know?" I nodded. "Hey, do you skate at all?" His cheeks and nose were blotched with red marks from the cold, the look actually suited him. "Sometimes, yeah." ("Then you probably have crabs.") he leaned back in his chair, "Maybe when it's dry we can do that sometime." I nodded and fumbled with my napkin. "You look great, by the way." I looked down at myself and smiled. "Thanks Finn, so do you." He nodded and thanked me. The woman came back and took our orders. "Two carrots cakes and hot cocoa's please." The waitress nodded and looked at the two of us, a sly smile on her face. She left and Finn and I went back to conversing about random things.
When our food finally showed up, only one cocoa came. One cocoa but two straws. We stared at it then back at each other. "You can have it." We both offered. I shook my head, "You should have it, please." He shook his head. "You should take it, I'm not that thirsty." I shook my head again. "Finn, seriously, I know you. You fucking live for hot cocoa, seriously, I'm not thirsty either." He shook his head. "You're the lady and it's rude to take things from the woman on the date." I froze. "Date?" He looked up at me panicked. "I'm glad you think it's a date too Finn." He smiled and looked down at his lap. "What if we shared the hot cocoa?" He offered quietly. I nodded and put the straw into the mug. He put his straw in the mug as well and our hands bumped each other. "Sorry!" We both said, kind of flustered. We giggled a little after and started to dig into our cakes. "So, can I hear some of your crazy fan stories?" I asked him in a playful tone. "Of course!" I took another bite, getting ready.
After we'd both finished our cakes and paid we were getting ready to leave, we realized we hadn't drank very much of the cocoa. We both bent down and put our mouthed back on our straws. The sides of our lips collided like a half kiss. We both jumped back as if the straws had given us a shock. "I'm so sorry!" We cried but unlike the other times, we just stayed silent after. I pulled his beanie on and left with him. We walked silently together, I watched the snow fall. Suddenly, Finn's icy cold finger interlaced with my own. It made my heart speed up and my cheeks turn red. "Is this okay?" He whispered. "Yes, of course it is Finn.." I matched his tone. He nodded and we continued the silent walk home.
When we got to my porch, Finn continued to stand silently. I was about to go inside when he called my name. "Yes Finn?" I turned around to him, hopeful. Instead of a kissing me he pointed to his head. "Oh yeah..." I took off his comfy beanie and tossed it to him. He gave me a half smile and I returned with a tired one. "See you later Finn." I waved and he waved back as I shut the door. Oh my god. I swear boys are clueless sometimes. Is a kiss so much to ask for? Is it really?!
