A few weeks after he woke up in the hospital, dazed and confused after the accident and after his surgery, he was doing fine, incredible, even.

When he woke up, Miranda was right there beside him. Literally.

Ben groaned as his eyes fluttered open. Lights immediately invaded his senses and he frowned, squinting at it.

After a moment of surveying his surroundings, he realized he was in a hospital room.

Then it all came back. He'd been in a car accident.

Ben was heading to the hospital, since he was on-call. Suddenly, a car drove into the side of his car. That's where it all went blurry.

He groaned again, trying to move with his sore muscles. He realized there was a force blocking his left arm, and he glanced down, fully prepared to see no arm at all. But a soft smile crossed his face when he saw the top of Miranda's head.

"Miranda," he rasped, moving his arm to get her to wake up.

She stirred slowly, and he called her name again. This time, she jumped up, worry evident in her eyes. "You're awake! Oh, thank God!" She pounced on him, her arms going around his body.

Her smile was big and bright, her eyes wide and beautiful, as she pulled away. "I am." His voice was still raspy at best, and Miranda immediately grabbed some water from the bedside.

"Here." He tried to sit up and reach for the straw himself, but she shook her head. "No, no. Don't strain yourself. I got it."

He obliged, taking the straw between his teeth and gulping the water down. "Thank you." Miranda nodded, a strained smile on her face. "Are you okay?"

"You scared me, Ben Warren," she whispered.

"I'm… I'm sorry." He bit his lip shyly. "What- What happened?" She looked at him like he was going to break any second, and he found that he didn't want that at all. "Tell me."

She filled him in as honestly as she could, telling him about the crash, and the craniotomy he'd needed afterwards. "They… We weren't sure if you were going to wake up."

He looked down in shame. She was probably worried out of her mind. "What else?"

"Uh, your father and brother were here but they went out for food. I think there's more, but I don't really want to provide you with more information unless it's facts. We'll wait for your doctor."

He nodded. "You alright?"

"Fine," she smiled, but it was a little forced. "I've been hoping you'd wake up, and here you are. I… I missed you." She bit her lip, looking down. Her hand reached for his and their fingers intertwined together.

The surgery took a toll on him, and the pain post OP was indescribable. The meds and the physical therapy helped immensely.

With Miranda by his side, he had settled in a schedule fully equipped to help him heal.

Through his recovery period, he'd developed his budding relationship with Miranda.

He smiled as he looked at the woman responsible for his pristine health.

Miranda had taken care of him, been with him every step of the way, and it had paved the way for their relationship to bloom even more.

"What are you thinking about?" She asked, her head on his chest after a long day.
