I opened my eye's finding myself with my head resting on Ethan's shoulder. I shot up quickly and pretended to brush something off my shirt. He was reading a magazine, his brown hair over his eye's. He laughed at me, not lifting his eye's off the magazine.
Right then, I remembered everything. The kiss. The fact that we have a double agent. Everything. I sighed.
"What's wrong?" Ethan asked, finally looking up from his very important People magazine. He must have stole that from my bag.
I got saved my the bell. More like the announcement but whatever. A women's voice came on. "Please fasten your seat belts, we are landing." The plane shook once or twice and I automatically grabbed Ethan's hand. I held on to it like it was the end of the world. He chuckled but let my keep my hand there while I blushed like crazy.
After what felt like hours we finally landed. I grabbed my bags and ran the hell outta there. I waited on the cab like while Ethan tried to find me. He looked worried when he found me but didn't make any comment. God, this is going to be awkward.
We finally got a cab and put our stuff in the trunk. The driver was an old man, sounding like he was from the south. The driver started talking about how he wasn't getting good tips, he was on the verge of being kicked out of his home and how he had to take care of 5 people in his family. He looked fine so we didn't buy his story. So he got really mad and started yelling and how we had to get out of his cab right now. We just ignored him, after all we could do worse to him.
When we came to the hotel-a silent car ride, not counting the mans complaints- I chucked the man a ten dollar bill. In a way I was thankful for his yelling. It stopped me and Ethan from talking about what happened on the plane, and that I was thankful for.
I walked into the Palms Casino Resort, wishing we could be there faster so I could take a nice, hot shower. I walked up to the desk where a women was typing furiously on her computer. She didn't look up so I tapped her on her shoulder. "Oh, I'm so sorry I didn't see you there. Today's been so busy and there's so much to do." I smiled as if to say, don't worry about it. "Do you have a reservation, and are you to together." She asked. "Yes, we should be under Veronica Ashcroft." I replied. She typed something into her computer and then looked up. "Yes, you reserved a one bedroom suite." she said. Furious couldn't even explain my feelings. I HAVE TO SHARE A BED WITH ETHAN!!!!! Me + Ethan + Bed = HELL. Did I mention it was a bed.
Not bothering to hide my feelings I spoke/yelled at the women. "You must be mistaken...!!!" Ethan surprised by my outrage spoke before the women could answer. "It can't be that bad sharing a bed with me." He said before smirking at me. At this the women laughed but quickly tied to hide it. I turned back to her and complained, "There must be another room I can stay in?" She shook her head. "Sorry we're all filled up. Not a single room left." I sighed and asked her for the key. She gave it to me and I grabbed it before stalking off to the elevator.
Ethan ran after me, he looked slightly hurt from the fact that I didn't want to share a bed/room with him. I pushed the button repeatedly. "Veronica, we need to talk." He said.
I sighed. I liked him. I liked him a lot. I didn't want him to be mad at me and I didn't want to be mad at him. But I didn't want to talk about what happened on the plane. That was confusing, but I enjoyed it. Every second of it.
Right then the elevator opened saving me from answering his statement. I walked in and just stood there, Ethan next to me.
I spoke. "Ethan, I'm sorry I haven't been talking to you since we got off the airplane. What happened between us confuses me and I don't know what to do. I liked it a lot but now everything is different between us. And we have a job we need to do. I'm sorry it's just I haven't felt like this about anyone in a long time and I don't know what to do." I stood there feeling exposed.
