Shinobu's phone had been periodically buzzing from inside her bag for the past few minutes, but she heeded it no mind. In order to reclaim her title of number 1, she would have to pour her heart and soul into studying.

After 10 minutes of constant notifications and missed calls, she finally caved in and took out her phone.

42 new messages and 10 missed calls. Shinobu sighed, wishing that she had left her phone on silent mode, but still called back Mitsuri, the culprit for all of the ruckus.

It took only 3 rings before Mitsuri picked up. "Ehe Shinobu, I missed you."

Getting up from her chair, she plopped onto her bed before responding. Heaving a large sigh, she finally answered. "Ehe? Did you seriously call me just to tell me that?"

"No, I just wanted to make you stop studying. You've been studying ever since I left. Shinobu, you need to know when to take a break. It's not good for you, and in the long run, it will only hurt you." Mitsuri's voice was dripping with worry. Unlike many of the other people in Shinobu's life, Mitsuri only wanted the best and genuinely cared for her best friend.

Despite the static noise, Shinobu could make out a male's voice from the other end of the line. "Mitsuri... don't tell me you're with Iguro. Are you sure you should be calling when you should savor your time with your boyfriend?"

She ended the call before her best friend could object. Stretching all four limbs out on her twin-sized bed, she thought about what Mitsuri said. Maybe it was time for her to take a break. After all, nothing good comes from just studying all of the time.

She pulled out her phone again, deciding on how she should spend the next few hours to relax. Even after she had marked all of Mitsuri's texts as read, there was still one notification left, coming from Sabito. They had exchanged contacts the day before, from when he was her Uber driver.

His text contained a string of numbers, which was apparently Makomo's phone number. Creating a new contact for her, Shinobu wondered if she should invite Makomo out. After all, they were close enough to be considered acquaintances, but not enough to be called friends, something Shinobu wouldn't mind being with the kind girl.

Sending Makomo the first text, Shinobu asked her if she would be want to meet in a few minutes at a certain restaurant on campus.

Shinobu never took Makomo as someone who would give one-word answers, but knowing that certain people texted differently from how they spoke left her not thinking too much about the out-of-character response.

Even if it wasn't a formal meeting, Shinobu wouldn't allow for anyone other than Misturi to see her in a sweatsuit. Changing into a purple sweater and a white skirt, she got ready to meet with Makomo in hopes of making a new friend.

Adjusting the collar of the button-up shirt she wore beneath her sweater, Shinobu sat at the table alone, waiting for Makomo to arrive. Even if the meet-up was meant to serve as a break from studying, due to her studious nature, Shinobu couldn't help but review her class notes until she came.
