I just want to understand!

Starry night

Oddly enough, they didn't feel that Jungkook was a stranger. He
was about Seokjins age with strands of grey in his hair.
At the dinner table he sat quiet, watching the others .
The stars were out, the early autumn presented a warm,  comforting setting for their late dinner.
Laughter, small talk, Jimin sitting fixed by the vast canvas of the night sky. Just like always.

The dinner was delicious, Jungkook still couldn't believe he was actually sharing it with these intruders. But they weren't,  were they? Intruders. He was the intruder. No. They seemed nice.
He took another good look at Seokjin.
What was it?
Something familiar, very familiar!

-  Where were you born Jungkook?
-   Canberra.
-   Australia? That's Australia, right, not Austria?
Jimin beamed happily towards Jungkook, he got it right!
-  I don't get it, uncle , I mean, grandpa , ah, he never told us ,
his entire life was a secret. But we didn't mind..
Seokjin startled by the mentioning of Canberra. His two children were sent there to attend high school , exchange programme.
By now they had transferred to college. He didn't want it. But his wife, So ahn , insisted that it would do them good. He remembered very vividly their faces when he left them after that first visit.
-  Hyung? Isn't it so?
-  Huh, sorry, I was far away in my thoughts. What did I miss?
-  Your children , they go to school there, right?
Jungkook took up the thought that was nagging in his mind.

-   I've seen you before and now I know where! Your children, a
boy and a girl, a year between them.
I have been teaching them. History and geography.  You came
    to visit. I remember that.

Seokjins face was pale. Namjoon immediately activated defence mode.
-   Don't.
-   I'm sorry, I didn't mean to...
-   Just don't.
-   Its ok Joonie, he couldn't know.
-   He doesn't have to know anything!
-   That's my decision. You and Hoseok are the only ones that
     knows, why hide it?
-    Hyung, your pain shines right through. You didn't want them
     to go, did you?
-    I'm an idiot. We married young, our families decided the match
She..wanted a career,  not children. Our beautiful children, she
     didn't see. I couldn't convince her, I wasn't , I..

That moment something very odd happened.
Across the stone paved inneryard , pass the fireplace and empty bottles, the tall figure of Jungkook rushed over to Seokjin and put his arms around him. Bandage and all.

There wasn't a single breath taken.
Not a movement.
Not a word.
Not a sound, no, that's a lie, there was a sound;

Seokjin was crying.

Next mornings events

As late as they finally fell asleep, as early they were up next morning. At least 4, Seokjin had gone fishing with Namjoon.
Hoseok knocked on...ahm, Leehyuns , Sihyuks, Jungkooks door.
- Are you awake?
He was whispering loudly but waited a few moments for a reply.
Jungkook opened and smiled.
-   Come in!
-   Just for a minute, I need answers.
-   Me too. You first.
-   The twins grandmother recognized your grandfather in
Taehyungs pictures. She called him Sihyuk. Where did he go?
-    Australia. Sydney at first. He married, had two children and
I'm the only grandchild. He used to say that leaving was his best
option. His siblings, older than him, stayed on and died in the
fire that ruined the family farm in Gwangju.
He didn't like talking about it but , he and grandmother split
up when I was just a baby. His children took sides.  Not for
him. The arguing was so infected that he decided to move back.

-   Why our family?
-    He remembered your grandparents kindness. They stayed in
Gwangju but your parents took their only child and moved to
     Busan.
-    He said we were related but never on who's side. Mom had
a vague idea of seeing him in a picture and she had. These.
Jungkook sighed and closed the album.
-    When was last you heard from him?
-     Early spring last year, I came over for midterm leave.
-     I was here in may, after that, he just vanished. We thought he
might be dead and we searched both here and his apartment.
I t was emptied and a new tenant had moved in.
-     Can you hold a minute,  I've got another mail.

Jungkook stepped aside, checking the mail on his computer.
Hoseok saw him grow all white and feared he would collapse.
-      Are you ok?  What is happening?
-      I'm not sure,  it's my father . They found grandad and
grandma. In Lismore,  she moved there long ago, but grand
dad, they are both dead! I don't get it. Dad also says I got a
letter to their address , 6 months ago. 6 months...
-      What? He's dead? Now, when? And that letter, why..?
-      I was granddads boy, dad never liked that. And he never
knew how sorry grandpa was about everything. Missing
       his children, blaming himself.
I can't take this in now, how about you Hoseok?

-      Breakfast? That's my best option. I can't think.

As they stepped down to the kitchen, met by an eager Tanny,
Seokjins voice was heard from inside. He was ...singing?
Singing? Yesterday...
Jungkook walked out in the kitchen, taking Seokjin aside .
Hoseok raised an eyebrow and Namjoon found himself outside with a set of dishes .

After some time, both men came out and Seokjin was beaming.
Jungkook took his hand and looked him in the eyes.
-    So, you'll accept?
-    Yes, of course. I'll accept !Thank you!!!
He found himself surrounded by tired,  messy and dear faces, looking at him with confusion.

-    I'm leaving! I'm leaving guys! God I'm so happy!

Hoseok stood bewildered. What was actually going on here?
