Chapter 7 : How did we get so dark

Utahime-sensei was the first to greet me when I arrived back to Kyoto High. Todo wasn't with me because he decided to go back home and visit his family after our grueling mission in Ohara. I had a time helping out and as annoying that Todo guy may be he did almost all the work exorcising that Grade 2 curse.

I walked towards Utahime-sensei holding my broom in one hand. I felt somehow weak being not much help on the mission, I hated it because I'm supposed to be extraordinary in this twisted male dominated field. "Momo-chan!" Utahime-sensei wrapped her arm around mine as we walked together inside the main building.

Maybe If I was like her, I won't be feeling this way. She's compassionate about other people and doesn't let her be pushed around by annoying men like that Gojo-sensei from Tokyo Tech.
We stopped and she released her arm from me. She turned to me and held both of my shoulders firmly, "I have news for you."
I was unable to read her face and couldn't identify if she would be telling bad news or good news and with the dramatic pause she took made the situation more nerve racking, "Sensei what is it?" I asked softly overthinking what her news might be.

She let go of her grip on my shoulder and let out a chuckle seeing me display nervousness. I felt my cheeks burn up from embarrassment, "Sensei!"
"I'm sorry." She continued to laugh.
After a few seconds she looked at me straight in the eye, "There's a new female first year." She said smiling.

My heart jumped and I got excited because finally, finally after being around with Noritoshi and Todo, I finally have someone I can be friends with and talk about overcoming the inequality of this world towards women and also finally having a another female in that shabby dormitory might be great, I could already imagine the sleepovers despite being in the same building or the midnight gossips I could have with whoever she is.

"Where is she?! I need to meet her!" I tried to pull Utahime-sensei by the hand to go to dormitories but she didn't budge. She stood still and looked at me sharply, "I'm not done talking." her deep tone made me realize my hasty behavior.
"Don't mention anything about Tokyo High or Gojo Satoru." She said firmly.

It riddled me with questions but I'm certain there's a reason. I don't know that much about Tokyo High compared to Noritoshi but I am aware of the infamous six eyes and infinity user, Gojo-sensei. He visited Kyoto a few times to attend meetings and disrespect the elders, taking price for having biggest ego in all humanity.

We walked towards the dormitory and my heart raced in excitement, almost completely burying the curiosity from Utahime-sensei's words. We stopped in front of the door from the room besides mine. A scent coming from inside the room lingered in my nose, it was distinctive and pleasant

"Kazui-chan." Utahime-sensei knocked before opening the door.

Utahime walked in first but I saw a glimpse of her hair, it surprised me because its silver, "Momo-chan." Utahime-sensei stopped suddenly making me bump into her back. I quickly moved to her side and apologized and realized the new student was right in front of me. My eyes turned to her and all the excitement I felt was gone, I'm not disappointed but I was vexed with myself for feeling jealous and intimidated. Everything about her appearance is perfect but aside from that the atmosphere was vibrant and

"Momo-chan are you okay?" Utahime-sensei asked. I was flustered and felt all of my energy drained away from my body.
"Nice to meet you." She greeted softly with enthusiasm.
"Kazui Zenin, first year. Momo Nishimiya, first year." Utahime-sensei introduced us.
I made brief eye contact with her and I immediately felt bad because she looked authentically kind.
"Zenin?" I asked. It made sense for her to be a Zenin, I could only imagine the pressure to be perfect being a part of one of the three elite jujutsu families. Their problematic old values discriminate against women and her overcoming that at the same while looking this.
"No. Just Kazui." She finally spoke. Even her voice sounded great, I could imagine falling asleep in a bed of clouds just by hearing her voice.
"Oh right sorry. Well there's one more first year student but he's away. Momo-chan take care of her." I felt awkward when Utahime-sensei left. Kazui looked at me like she waiting for me to say something because I was just standing there stunned.
