"Please don't leave me," Sally whispered."But I need to," Wilbur returned, breathy and hugging his girlfriend tightly. Those are the last embraces of his beloved that he can feel, and the last essence of her scents to stick to his suit.
"What if you'll forget me?" The woman begged, without returning the hugs and crying in Wilbur's shoulders.
"I wo-"
"Yes, you would," Sally cut.
"Starting the day you stop crying, I know you would forget me. I know that so hard Wilbur. I know you. You'll love another woman, have kids, and carry a family. I'll be just an era to you, a phase where you can reform. I wanted you to be the part of my life...but...but if destiny doesn't want to...-then I can't have you."
Sallu let go of Wilbur's embrace, stepped back as tears fall from the edge of his cheeks and fall on the brick pathways of the narrowed streets.
----------------------George completely shut the book and looked away. Whatever number he paused he knew that he's in the second to the last chapter of the book-and sadly he can't handle it. He admired the cover again-Love In Depart, a book advised by Dream.
He can't handle it, not by the depressing setting, but the envy he felt for Wilbur. He's mad at him for some reason and sad for some circumstances. He never experienced this kind of infatuation same on the plot, but he doesn't know why it stabbed his heart a lot.
It's a good thing only distance separates them-George thought for himself. Nowadays-I mean in George's timeline, you can just meet up with a plane ticket, but sadly you can't buy a ticket for time travel.
George noticed the changes he felt for staying in this timeline for so long. Like him without reflection and the forever sweatshirt he's keeping, he knew some worst will come. But on the good side, what if the time brought him in here for a reason? Like a goal? A task something he needs to do? It wonders if is he ever is the first person to perform this kind of science fiction. What if he's really special, or what if someone special brought him here?
Is it around George? Or around Dream? Then if it is he, why? He felt every piece of him is perfect from head to heart. From his skills and hospitality and sometimes his scary smiles, he loves it. He admires it. But is he willing to fall into the trap where the simple "it" will change to "him"?
At this moment, they are at the library table. With silence wrapping the whole world and the six of them holding a different book with a different genre. Beside him is Dream, clipping the book with his middle and index finger-leaning to his chair and book in forty-five degrees.
He watched Dream curiously, looking at those naughty grimaces and those sweet lips. His eyes are glued to the book he reads, while George still has no life force to read a word from the next page...
Will he still wait for those times, where he could taste his lips, where he could feel his embrace or could see him cry.
"Hey George, you look so blank," Tubbo poked him in an instance.
"Did they do the no-no thing?" Sapnap shrieked, covering his mouth to stop spread laughter across the library.
George sighed up moving a little bit of his hair by air. Furrowed his brows, watching the two covering their mouths and laughing like there's no tomorrow.
They just stopped when Techno poked them." Will you two shut up or die?" he glared. Their nuisance stopped when Karl's figure appeared from behind.
"Oh we're so sorry," Tubbo apologized.
Karl just exiled a burst of light laughter and winked at them. "It's fine if you haven't noticed, there are not many people here, so you'll not disturb anybody."
George looked around and notice that the library was clean as a bone of customers. And in the glass arc windows, are the glint of sunset light peeking through the floor. Dust is visible through it and completely filtered by the orange window. They looked around a slightly messy table with some unreturned books are open with some chairs are not inserted in the table. Then it was the time they realized that they are the only ones left there.
Techno checked his wristwatch and enlarged his eyes as an expression. He closed the book and placed it on the table, stood up, and inserted his chair. "Oh I'm so sorry we're late, I think we need to go home now,"
"You don't seem to dwell here, you with the thick hair guy," Karl looked to George. "We're closing for thirty minutes, I'll just clean some slight mess in here,"
"We'll return the books, don't worry" he replied, with his accent so formal. Changing his tone a bit, so it can match with Karl.
Tommy stand up and closed the book. "It was really a fun day," he yawned. Then he grabbed the book of the others as they place them on the table, except for George.
The five stand up and go to the shelves where they can return to the book, according to its corresponding genre, of course. George and Karl are left behind, still holding the book in his left hand, while Suga is supporting his hands in the mop.
"Uhmm...Mr. Karl can I take the book home, I haven't finished it. I'll promise to return it immediately after I read it," George said, softening his voice a little.
"Oh sure, you just need to sign on the notebook on the counter so I can keep track of what book you are getting," Karl smiled.
"Thanks," George replied, and Karl smiled- again and for the last time- then leave him alone.
George walked to the counter and looked for the wide-open notebook he's talking about. It had a pen with an attached chain on it-to avoid theft. George wrote his name, and the exact date he borrowed to it. Coincidentally, he misspelled the year, forgot that he's currently in 1960. He then writes the title and the author and signed with his name in cursive.
"So let's go," Sapnap said, as all of the five also approached on the counter. George just answered them with a nod.
They go out of the library and the orange sunset greeted them. On the whole day, George has some thoughts he processed.
He missed his phone.
