"Clay, why in a rush. Wait," George was almost dragged among the streets of Venice by Clay's hands.
"We will be late if you continued to walk like a princess?" Clay paused, looking at George's eyes.
"I'm not WALKING like a princess!" George sassed.
"Well I don't want to get late, You know. We don't have much that time,"
For fuck's sake, if Clay could only knew that he had all of the time in his hands, and George hoped that he also have them. Then they could only stay as a couple with no worries.
Clay continued to rush forward but left George who was stunned and have straight face. "George?"
George escaped his zoning out. "Oh, sorry Dream,"
"What are you thinking?" Clay asked.
"Promise it's nothing," George smiled. "Let's go"
Since empathy possessed Clay, they walked down to aisles and take many turnings among streets. George hold himself to ask a question, and even that the awkward silence between him and his boyfriend felt uneased to him, all that Clay was gonna answer is "surprise".
In somehow time had gave him surprises, like his existence to the world of year 1960, a painter helping and falling in love with him, finding histories of Venice, and also finding out that there'a a person like him too.
On minutes of George overthinking about decisions and solutions, and Clay taking pictures of views cause he can't have a picture of George, they met a dark hallway. Long enough, George could see a canal and a group of gondoliers, and gondolas tied to planks of the bridge.
"Clay where would we go?" George asked.
"I don't know if you have any ideas about this, or history of Venice. But if you think of Venice when you are still in the future, what are you thinking?" Clay paused and seriously asked.
"Uhmm... canals? Waterways? You know a city divided into two?" George answered. Unsured.
"Well good one, but not as I expected," Clay answered. "Well you said that you wanted to ride the gondola right?"
George eyes enlightened. "Yes!"
"Did somebody wanted to ride a gondola?" A voice appeared behind them.
George and Clay looked back, and it turns out a gondolier wearing a navy sailor shirt. But his smile fades out as he saw Dream.
"Hey, you"re the one that bumped us back in Grand Canal right?" There's no upset in Clay's voice. Just a question.
"Indeed it is I, Darryl. It's my deepest apologies that I bumped at you back in the canal," The gondolier only scratched the back of his head. "I was in a hurry. I'm going to be late on the Regatta Storica. Our crew can't start without me,"
George and Clay fell on silence, and look at the gondolier that greeted them. The sun is blocked by the peak of high buildings and houses.
"So I see that you're currently in the bridge of sighs, a great spot for couples," Darryl broke the silence. "It made me wonder, are you two couples?"
Clay smiled. "Yes," and in that moment he snatched George's hands.
George genuinely smiled'
