"jungwon, you okay?"

jungwon retreated into himself as his grandma patted his back, growing concerned about his constant silence. when jungwon noticed it he mustered a faint smile.

"i'm fine, grandma."

i guess.

for several days now, jungwon had been going back and forth to the hospital. aside from check-ups and taking medication he often found himself lost in thought whenever he caught a glimpse of a girl in a black hoodie.

arah.

jungwon didn't want to assume but he felt like arah was always looking at him from a distance. whenever he glanced at her, the girl would just stare back at him.

he had even tried talking to her once but she only stared at him in return. despite arah's constant gazes, there was one thing jungwon always saw in her eyes.

sadness.

jungwon desperately wanted to know the reason why she looked at him like that but because the girl didn't speak and would abruptly leave whenever they faced each other- the question remained unanswered in his mind.

"jungwon, you're always lost in thought. are you really okay?" his grandma asked again as they got into the car.

jungwon heaved a deep breath as he shook his head. "i'm not.."

worry etched deeper into his grandma's face. "tell me, what's the matter hijo?"

jungwon looked up. "grandma.."

"hm?"

"why am i so incredibly handsome and cute?" jungwon replied and they fell into a brief silence.

soon, a loud burst of laughter filled the air-their driver couldn't help but burst into laughter at what jungwon said. meanwhile, his grandma wore a slight frown.

"hijo i thought something was troubling you. you scared me." she scolded but jungwon could only laugh.

"really? you got scared ma? let me see-ow!" jungwon winced as his grandma flicked his nose.

"you're full of nonsense you silly child," she said with a smile.

"got it from you ma." jungwon retorted and burst into laughter. his grandma ignored him, while the driver joined in on jungwon's laughter.
