Music filled the air of the party. People of all backgrounds were in attendance, and they all interacted with each other with ease. Josephine herself loved to be involved at functions. She'd take to the dance floor and dance the night away with as many men as her choosing. She arrived at the dance floor hoping Perode would ask for her permission to dance, but he took no such liberty.
Instead, he watched as others danced with her and chatted up his friends. That was fine with Josephine, she occupied herself with her own friends. But as time went on, Perode didn't seem the least bit concerned with her, which caused Josephine great pain. And after hours went by, he disappeared all together.
Josephine decried to take a seat, her spirits beginning to fall. Maria spotted her and made her way over. "Why must you sit? You should be enjoying yourself! Sarah has the most interesting herb she got shipped from India. Once put in a pipe, it gives you the most delightful demeanor."
"I do not need spirits at the moment." Josephine answered shortly. Maria wondered what had gotten into her, and then it became clear.
"Where is Perode?" Asked Maria, who had quite a bit of wine inside of her. "I haven't seen him in the longest!"
"I haven't a clue." Josephine answered. "He couldn't have left, could he?"
"Was he set to leave for Haiti in the morning or this evening?" Asked Marie.
"I don't know." Josephine whined. "I truly thought he would ask me already."
The party went entirely silent when a new group of people came in. They weren't hardly as dressed up as those who were already in attendance. They were slightly harder, one might even say haggard. All who laid eyes on them knew exactly who they were, they were pirates. And while they were known to be dangerous, they made for a great party.
People began to cheer as they entered, but for Josephine that was the last straw. She wanted the party that she'd become engaged at to be a high class event, and all pirates brought were profanities and booze. With disappointment written all over her face, she walked out onto the terrace of the party.
She worried that Perode had felt for good without any regard for her, and it seemed as though her suspicions were correct. As she looked inside through the may doorways, she could see the party getting even more rowdy. The music now sped up and the dances became even more lively. Even on the terrace where Josephine stood, couples stole kisses between each other.
While standing there, she heard smooches between one couple in particular. Once she laid eyes upon them, she realized it was no other than Perode himself with a white miss, Lady Quincy. She had lifted her dressand hopped up and down on Perode, Josephine was certain his rod was inside of her. In an effort to protect herself from embarrassment, Josephine made her way off the terrace and into the open field. She found a wooded area where she would have privacy.
"A lady all by herself?" Asked a voice. Josephine quickly wiped her tears and turned to the person.
It was far too dark for Josephine to make out who was speaking to her, all she saw was a large silhouette much larger than her. He held a lantern in his hand, then lifted it to her face, which in turn illuminated his as well.
"A pretty one at that." He observed. The man was handsome, a young chap who had blue eyes, dark black hair and pale skin. He also had slight stubble on his face, and despite that being a sign of untidiness, it suited him plenty. He wore a billowing white shirt that hadn't even a tie, and it was tucked into dark pantaloons.
As beautiful as he was, there was one major flaw. He was a pirate, and such men were always considered to be the most dangerous. Ones whom a lady such as Josephine must distance herself from,
