Why'd You Go, Lou?

They've been dating for about a month now so Harry thought I'd was about time he brought her over to his house while the boys were there.

Surely Niall and Liam knew they were a couple and they did meet her, but that was back then she was just the barista. Now they were gonna meet Carolina, Harry's girlfriend.

"Ok she'll be here in a few minutes, how do I look?"

"Niall, she's Harry's girlfriend, not yours" Liam said.

They had all cleaned their rooms and the entire apartment, tried to make it presentable.

"I know that, but first impressions are important. Hows it gonna be if my best mates girlfriend hates me?"

"You've already met her."

"Forget it. You're no help"

Just then a knock on the door sounded.

"I'll get it." Said Niall walking over to the door. "Holy Shit."

"What happened" asked Liam walking over too. "Oh my,"

"What's wrong?" Questioned Louis.

"Um, you actually can't be here right now." Said Niall. "Harry will be here any minute" he whispered horribly to Liam.

And Louis heard that. "Will he? Good cause I actually need to talk to him" he said happily before merging his way in between Niall and Liam then walking past them.

Niall and Liam exchanged looks that both said 'Holy shit, what are we gonna do?'

Another knock came. Niall rushed to get it.

"Hey, is she here yet?" Asked Zayn when the door revealed him.

"Are you guys expecting someone? Who's she?" Enquired Louis.

And just like that Harry walked in hand in hand with his girlfriend. He stopped head on when he saw Louis. "Wha-" he began.

Louis eyes too widened as soon as he saw Harry, apparently he didn't see that his fingers were interlocked with someone else's because he looked so, hopeful?

And then he looked down. "What?" His face contorted with confusion and he felt so embarrassed.

Everyone was in an element in of surprise. Harry felt conflicted. Louis was hurt. Carolina was so confused. Niall was waiting for something to happen. Liam was waiting for someone to tear up, either Harry or Louis that is. Zayn was impressed. I mean what a coincidence he got there in time for all this.

"Hi Louis, I believe you met Carolina." Harry spoke up.

"Oh, erm yeah."

You'd be a fool if you said you couldn't sense anything going on. "Hi Louis, its nice to properly meet you." She said holding her hand out for him to shake. And when he didn't take it she lowered it.

In all honesty Harry hadn't thought about how he would tell Louis about Carolina. Did he even have to? No he didn't actually, he wasn't obligated to give Louis anything. That included intel on his love life.

"Um well," Harry breathed out. "Everybody, this is my girlfriend Carolina." He forced those words out of his mouth. Why do I still care about hurting him?

Everyone cheered, Carolina smiled and Harry looked at Louis and he saw possibly his whole world crumble just by looking into his eyes. His eyes glossed over and he coughed on nothing. However when he cleared his throat, blinked, and layered on a smile, all was fine.

They continued with their hangout for the rest of the day when suddenly Louis eyes locked with Harry's. And it had been happening all day, this one felt different and it felt wrong. He shouldn't have these moments with Louis anymore.

'Can I talk to you?' Louis mouthed.

I guess it needs to be done, Harry thought and nodded.

Luckily everyone was almost wasted so they didn't notice the two boys walking away.

His eyes looked amazingly magical. Louis thanked both the gods and Anne everyday for producing something so alluring. He could already tell this was gonna be really awkward. "How've you been?"

"Good. You?"

"Yea, I've been doing well."

"That's nice."

"So, uh when did you meet her?" Louis trying his hardest not to sound even remotely hurt, but he couldn't help it. He himself was going to try to fix their relationship eventually but it was hard since Harry could never stand talking to him unless it was a fight. And how are you gonna get you're ex-boyfriend back in the middle of a fight?

"I dunno, a few months ago"

"And how long have you guys been together?"

"Like a month."

"Cool. Well I guess I'm sort of apologizing now, so"

"Louis, I'm not doing this with you right now." Harry cut him off. He knew exactly where this would go.

"Harry please just-" he intervened.

"No Louis, I just mean its fine. Something happened between us and it's okay, I forgive you. I'm not saying I've forgotten and I'm not asking you to either. All I'm saying is that we both need to be mature enough to let things go, even as important as they are, or were. And it doesn't mean we have to stop caring about one another or even stop talking to each other, it's just now that we're broken up there are boundaries that we both need to set and both need to follow. I don't hate you, and I want you to know that I still care about you, alright?" Harry talked and Louis listened in awe.

"Um yeah." Louis choked out.

"Great. Friends?" Harry asked nervously holding his hand out while simultaneously wondering if it could lighten the mood a little bit.

"Friends." Louis confirmed hesitantly and taking Harry's drawn hand. He hadn't even been able to get a word in, Harry spoke for both of them when it was really Louis who needed to talk and Harry who needed to listen.

That night Louis went to sleep in a weird mood. Even after the closure they both got today, Louis wasn't convinced there could be another like Harry.
And he didn't think he could ever bring himself to move on, or even try.

And he didn't hate Carolina, or even dislike her. Truth is, he was very very jealous and he only hoped she would appreciate him as much as Louis does.

Accepting that it was completely over shouldn't have been this hard. Breakups happen all the time, everyday, so why was this one so hard to let go of?

*End of flashback*
