November brought the first quidditch match of the year. On the 8th of November the Slytherin and Gryffindor team woke up, already in the Great Hall when breakfast was served. The seven demigods visiting Hogwarts also split into teams, Annabeth, Hazel, Piper, Percy and Frank sat at the Slytherin table, while Jason and Leo at the Gryffindor one. They didn't argue, last evening they said goodbye at dinner in the usual happy mood and this morning they just split up. The Great Hall started to fill up with students dressed in either green or red... Well, mostly in red. Pansy was stressed out, she was sitting between Hazel and Piper, opposite Percy. She knew that they couldn't lose today. Malfoy can't be right. She was struggling to eat the last bits of her toast, but eventually she managed to finish her full breakfast.
"I'm going to the locker rooms, meet me there when you are done." she spoke as she stood up.
"Ready to lose this game with your shitty team?" Malfoy muttered as she passed him at the Slytherin table.
"Not like you ever beat Gryffindor." Pansy stopped looking him in the eye.
Percy noticed that Pansy stopped and then saw Malfoy too. He stood up, but Annabeth pulled her down.
"She can stand up to herself, you will give more reason for Malfoy to bully her if he thinks she can't protect herself." she said, trying to be quiet.
When all of the quidditch team arrived in the locker rooms and changed Pansy looked at them.
"I'm not really good at speeches, but I think this year's team is the best we have had during my time at Hogwarts. I seriously think we can win today. Just like we practiced!" she finished.
Everyone grabbed their brooms and headed out.
"Jackson! If you don't beat Potter out there I will murder you!" Pansy shouted just to finish encouraging people.
"Many tried to kill me, but so far none succeeded." Percy yelled back from the front of the queue of the Slytherin quidditch team heading out.
They stepped on the pitch just as the gryffindors did the same on the other side of the pitch, Madame Hooch stood in the middle. After she said the usual stuff about fair play end everything, Ginny and Pansy shook hands and the teams formed a circle, while Harry and Percy flew up a few meters. Madame Hooch let the bludgers and the snitch out, then waited a few seconds so the snitch could get out of sight before throwing up the quaffle and starting the first game of the year with this.
Percy immediately flew up in the direction he last saw the snitch go, while Piper managed to catch the quaffle and was flying towards the Gryffindor hoops guarded by Ron. Meanwhile, Lee Jordan who started a career as a professional quidditch commentator and came back to Hogwarts to comment the quidditch matches was already trying to shout over the cheering crowd.
"Okay, so Piper McLean, one of the exchange students from the USA caught the quaffle. Robins and Weasley are flying towards her. She is passing the quaffle to Parkinson, and Jason Grace got it before the Slytherin captain could. Go Gryffindor! Show them how the best ones do it!"
"Jordan, do I need to remind you that you are supposed to stay neutral?!" McGonagall called out.
"Sorry Professor, so Grace scored 10 points just now, Hazel Levesque got the quaffle, Weasley is after her, but it looks like she can't catch up. And there it goes, 10 points for Slytherin."
The Slytherins started cheering when Hazel scored the first 10 points for their house. Meanwhile Percy and Harry were aimlessly flying above all of the players, looking for the snitch but still keeping an eye out for bludgers and watching each other too. The match went on for long, if one house scored points the other one almost immediately equaled. The crowd of students was less enthusiastic, they still cheered when someone scored a goal, but they seemed to get bored a bit by the monotone game, even Lee seemed to get a bit less excited.
