Chapter Two. The Biters

Third person POV

The next day in the evening...

"What?! Lee, you couldn't come with me for the interview with Kudou san?"

Lee scratched his head, looking to the other way and apologised. "Gomen gomen... Something came up and I have to finish it."

The blonde was saddened since he had to do this all alone, but that didn't stop him from finding out the truth of the case. Kudou san is also relying on him too. Not to mention if he didn't investigate it, more and more victims will appear. He clenched his fists tightly and was pretty determined.

"It's okay, Lee! I will tell you all the details of it and record them down!"

Lee lit up with a smile and clasped his hands together apologetically. "I'll make it up to you next time, Naruto! I promise!"

Naruto's POV

He waved and left the room in a hurry. I waved back and let out a huge sigh. I grabbed my belongings and my skates and messaged Kudou.

Today is the day of the interview! Where are we meeting up? :)
~6:23 p.m.

How about the park a few streets away from where you work?
~6:23 p.m.

Ah! Sure thing. I'm heading over there now!
~6:24 p.m.

Whoa. He replied me so fast that I couldn't catch up. I better hurry up to the park.

I skated through the crowd, some shop owners saw and waved at me with bright smiles. I happily waved back and turned right at the corner. Passing though the gates of the park, it's already evening so there's not a lot of people around. It's such a deserted park, lights dimly lit the path, the whole atmosphere in here was giving me the chills.

I could see why Kudou suggested the place to talk. He didn't want anyone else to know about this since he's also a suspect for his loved one's death. I should help him out.

I looked around and saw a familiar figure sitting on the bench.

"Konbanwa (Good evening) Kudou san! Sorry for the wait!" I hurriedly rushed over to him and stopped in front of him, slightly panting.

He looked up and widened his eyes, looking behind me.

"Hm? Where's Lee san?"

"Ah... He's unavailable for this interview, there's something he needed to do first." I scratched the back of my neck nervously and sat down next to him on the bench.

"Oh? That's g- I mean...unfortunate..."

I thought I saw a smile on his face but it quickly wore off. I looked away and somehow this question popped out of my mind.

"Ahaha... Kudou san... Uhm... Are you sure about this place? Won't you get mosquito bites?"

I pulled up my sleeve, pointing to my arm and joked.

"I always get bitten so I guess I'm a bit bothered by it."

"Ah.... Yeah you do smell good." He replied bluntly as he lowered his head, his bangs slid off from the back of his ear.
