The sound of Lia humming as she walked around the room awoke you from your light sleep. You opened your eyes, a slight groan falling from your lips when the sun hit your eyes.
Lia turned her head at the sound, a bright smile tugging at her lips as she pulled on her sweats.
"Good morning, baby." She said, the happiness she felt evident in her voice.
You felt a rush of happiness flood over you just seeing her so happy. It's your birthday and you figured she was happy over that. You don't really see your birthday as anything super special, but she always has, and that makes you feel good.
"What are the plans for the day?" You wondered as she grabbed her shoes and sat at the foot of the bed, pulling them on her feet.
"I have practice." She sighed and right at that moment, your heart dropped.
"Oh..."
She frowned over the sadness in your voice.
"What's wrong?"
"It's nothing." You said and although she wanted to press a little in hopes that you'd tell her what it is that's on your mind, but the alarm on her phone went off and she knew she had no choice but to leave before she was late.
"I really have to go before I'm late. I love you. Have a good day." She said as she grabbed her things and kissed your head before walking out the door, leaving you all alone to bask in the sadness you felt.
Your birthday may not be that important to you, but Lia always tells you that it is her to her. So you couldn't deny how disappointed it made you to know that she, all of people, forgot it.
You pulled the blanket over your head and let your tears fall before you started to fall back asleep. If you can't spend the day with Lia, you'll spend it catching up on sleep. You don't feel very enthused or up to celebrating without her.
Your phone continued to chime with messages from friends and family, as well as tweets from fans leaving you sweet birthday wishes and kind words. It was more than Lia gave you and that made you feel even sadder.
While you tried to go back to sleep, Lia was walking through the practice room doors. She froze as soon as she noticed that it was empty and silent. She looked at the clock on the wall and saw that she was right on time.
Suddenly, her phone started to ring in her back pocket. She saw it was Yuna calling, so she quickly answered.
"Hey," Lia answered.
"Hey, Lia! Is y/n okay? We've been trying to get ahold of her for the last little while and she won't answer her phone."
"Uh, yeah. She was fine when I left for practice,"
"Practice?" Yuna questioned. "Why are you at practice? We don't have practice today! It's your girlfriend's birthday and we promised we'd throw her a party, so we took the day off."
Lia's heart nearly stopped. She was confused and in disbelief.
"What? It's not her birthday."
"Yes, it is," Yuna argued. "Oh, Lia, don't tell me that you forgot!"
Lia shook her head and put her phone on speaker and looked at the date, only to feel a rush of guilt when she realized it is your birthday.
"Lia, leave now and get home to her! That's why she's not answering. She's probably heartbroken!"
"Yeah, okay, I'm going now," Lia said and went back to her car before getting inside and rushing home.
She started to think of all the things she could do to make this all up to you. But she knew it wasn't going to be so easy. You're obviously and understandably going to be absolutely crushed and she wondered if you'd even forgive her.
She ran inside as soon as she arrived home. She rushed up the stairs and found you lying in bed, sniffling with your head covered with the blanket.
"Y/N?" Lia whispered softly and you heard her approaching the bed before the mattress dipped as she sat down. "Can we talk?"
"I'm not up for talking." You mumbled.
"Okay. I'll talk. I've got a lot to say, a lot to make up for." She said as she nervously fidgeted with her fingers. "I am so sorry. I swear, I would never do something like this on purpose. I don't know where my mind has been. I swear, this is not an excuse, but things are so hectic and all I can think about is how perfect we have to try to be for this comeback around the corner."
You were listening, although you weren't really showing it.
"I feel so awful. I forgot your birthday, the most special day."
"It's not special, Lia."
"It is!" She said and watched you slowly turn around to face her. "To me, it is. Because you're special to me. You're my whole world and I love you."
"I love you too." You mumbled.
"I know you're upset. I completely understand why. But... can I make it up to you? It's only nine-thirty in the morning, so we have the whole morning and then afternoon until your party-"
"Party?" You interrupted and watched Lia's eyes go wide before she slumped and hung her head.
"Crap, I gave it away."
You chuckled and scooted closer to her.
"I'm sorry."
"It's okay." You said as you brushed your hand along her shoulder. "Yes."
"Yes, what?" She wondered and you smiled a little.
"Yes, you can make it up to me. You can start by taking me out for breakfast at my favorite spot."
She grinned and nodded excitedly before giving you a kiss on your cheek.
"Okay. Whatever you want. This is your day and I'll happily give you anything your heart desires."
"Having you by my side is all I want."
She leaned over and gave you a soft kiss before pulling away with a smile.
"Go get ready. We'll go in about ten minutes? Sound good?"
"Okay!" You grinned and jumped out of bed to run into the bathroom and start to get ready and all Lia could do is hope that you'd be this happy for the rest of your special day.
