- Bright's POV -
I now sit here in the lobby room of the cinema waiting for the two humans to appear.
Where's Win, you might ask?
Well, since it has been a while since he went out, there he is running around like a kid looking at all the things he has missed - with the humans being the top on the list. Right now he's watching with awe a woman serve people with popcorn. A while ago he was intently watching a man fry an ice cream that the man eventually got conscious and gave Win a free cup of his product just so Win would leave him alone. I know Win read the man's mind because he begrudgingly accepted the ice cream. That cupid, really. He's offended and all, yet he still accepted the bribe. If he was a human, he would definitely have diabetes by now with how too much sweets he eats.
He was also looking through the list of movies now showing and although he really wanted to watch the latest romantic movie released, he knows he can't because he has a job to do. I actually offered for him to watch it while I did our plan with the two, but he refused.
I just hope he would not be too scared with the screams of the people later.
"Bright, Bright, Bright, Bright, Bright!!!"
Win is now running towards me with so much glee on his face.
That smile.
That damn smile.
Ever since I met this Amos, it has become a part of my routine everyday to see that smile.
Why?
I don't know.
I don't know what's drawing me in.
I don't know why it's making me... happy. Is this happiness humans talk about all the time? The feeling of butterflies - wait. Ew! What the hell am I saying?! This is Win's fault for making me watch too many romantic movies and for making me listen to him always about his cringey job.
Butterflies.
Psh.
How would they know what it is like to have butterflies in their stomach? Have they ever experienced it? Wouldn't that be fatal? To have a living organism that large flying around inside you?
I heave a deep sigh and shake my head as I think about how ridiculous these humans are.
And how ridiculous is this cute cupid running towards me for admiring and patronizing them so much.
"Bright!"
He stops in front of me with a wide smile that makes his eyes crinkle. He suddenly holds my hand and pulls me up.
"What? What's making you excited?"
"Come on! Let me show you something!"
He runs while holding my wrist, and even though I can see people staring at us, I don't care. I allow Win to pull me to wherever he wants to go.
I keep running behind him, refusing to let go of his hand, when he suddenly stops in front of a man at a stall making cotton candy.
Although it's amusing to watch the man create the fluffy clouds of sugar, I can't help but focus on how tightly Win grips my wrist.
His touch—his warm skin against my cold one—makes my heart race. This is unusual for an Azrali like me; our hearts typically don't beat this fast.
But for some reason, for these past two decades, Win has been making me feel differently. Suddenly, I have been spending less time on my job just so I could be with him longer. My name suddenly sounds sweet when he says it; when his fingers touch mine when I give him his sweets, I wish for it to linger longer.
