Chapter 8

Adrian's POV

I don't understand why Mason is messing with my plan. I thought he knew what was going to happen but I guess he fell in love with the stupid girl.

Even though she might be really beautiful and have a great personality and I might even be falling for her myself, she is still the plan. But hey, whatever happens, happens right?

That's why I need to gain her trust, or else the plan won't work. I really hope Mason knows what he's getting himself into when he agreed. Let the best man win.

When I get to school, I go strait to the Science room. When I enter I see Dakotah sitting in her desk talking to Courtney. "Vas happenin'?" I say to her, when she finally see's me, she turns around and gives me a smile.

"Guess what?" She says in a chirpy voice. "What?" I say bluntly. "Are you even gonna try guessing?" She says in a serious tone. "FIne, did someone die?" "Adrian, why would you think that?" What did I do wrong, she asked me guess so I did.

"It's my birthday on Thursday. I can't belive I'm actually turning 18. I'll practically be an adult, but my mom probably won't be there." She says but says the last part quietly. "I mean, I'll hang out with you if you don't have any plans." "I would love to, it's not like I have anything to do anyway."

"Sounds great. I'll try to think of something" "Deal". After our little chat, class finally started and dragged on for what seemed like eternity.

While at lunch me and the boys were just talking about stuff I didn't really car e about until Tristan mentioned Dakotah's birthday.

"Guys, did you know that Dakotah's birthday is on Thursday? Well Kamryn and Courtney were hoping that we could spread the word but nobody tell her. It's kinda like a suprise party but we have to find a way to lure her to it." He said. "I could, me and Dakotah kinda already had plans on Thursday but I guess I could just bring her there instead." I said simply. Tristan thanked me for my efforts to make me 'the best birthday ever'.

Dakotah's POV

When I pull up into the driveway, I think for a second.

December 7. I can't belive I'll be 18 [One Direction Song] in less that a couple days I can vote, move out, and be an independent adult. I really don't know how I made it this far, but there is a lot more ahead of me.

When I walk inside the house, I see that Char is already home. I decide that today is the day I get to just chill with my little sister.

"Hey Char, how do you say we play Spyro and eat mac 'n' cheese?" She avoids my eye contact for a few seconds before she answers.

"Um, yah sure I'll put the game in." If I know Char well enough, then I know that something is up, and that she is hiding from me.

"Char, can you look me in the eyes?" She doesn't look up.

"Char please?" I just need to know what is wrong with her so I can move on to hanging out.

When she faces me, her pupils are dilated. (That's when your pupil, [that black circle in your eye] is larger than the color part.) "Charlotte Blake Smith, have you been taking drugs!!" I just knew this was bound to happen. No one is watching her, she's been acting weird lately, and she's just distant.

Adrian's POV

Thursday was the perfect day to do this plan, now I just needed some help so I called Kat. When I told her what to do, she just wanted one thing in return, to be Captain of the team and she knew that my dad was the coach. I agreed just so she could carry out the birthday surprise.

Even though Dakotah may be sweet, I still haven't gotten what I want. And when I do, I might just consider a relationship. I also called Tristan over to my house to figure out what would happen.

When he came over, I told him he could sit wherever he wanted. Once we were seated, he asked me a question. "Dude, why do you want to do this?" "Because I want to get back at Mason for what he did, and this is the only way it will hurt him more.

And for a long period of time, me and Tristan kept chatting until finally Kat showed up. People might think I'm a messed up person and they might be right. But in conclusion, I'm not that bad of a person if you get on my bad side.

Dakotah's POV

"Do you know that you can get in a lot of trouble! I mean what were you thinking!" "Dakotah chill, it's not a big deal. So what I've been hanging with the wrong crowd. I don't see the big deal." "The big deal is is that drinking is bad at such a young age of 14. I don't want anything bad to happen to you."

"Thanks for the tip mom." She says sarcasticly and walks away. "Fine but I'm telling mom!" I shout back. After I said that she turned around and came back to me. "What did you say, call mom? Because last time I heard she would be gone to weeks at a time. I don't even think she cares about me. It's always Dakotah this , Dakotah that. I never get the chance to shine now if you excuse me, let me drink my sorrows in whiskey." "Where do you even get this stuff." "Now you care about me, just go away."

And with that, she went to her room to do god knows what. I really wasn't going to tell mom but I thought that would scare her a little.

When I get to school, I see Mason and walk up to him. "Hey there!" I said I gave him a side hug and a kiss on the cheek. "How have you been lately?" I asked him. I havent seen him since he confessed to me the stuff about Adrian. " I've been doing fine but I want to tell you something at our spot after school ok. I gotta run.

And with that he left, but when I turned around, I bumped into a figure. "Oops sorry I didn't mean to-Adrian?" "Yah, hello to you too, I was just wondering if Thursday's plans are still on, I have a big, surprise." "Sure whatever I'll see you then. "Bye Dakotah." And with that Adrian left. But right when he turned the corner, Dakotah got a text.

Adrian: Give me your address because I forgot to ask you

Me: 7613 Friend Lane

Adrian: Thx :) See you tomorrow
