First day

After last night, I went back up to my room in the teachers quarter and talked to Lily. We agreed to talked through charmed mirrors so I could still see my son slowly grow up, even if he lives far away.

If I'm completely honest, our relationship wasn't the best anymore. She no longer saw me as an equal and fought for her opinion by saying it's the best for Harry. She's convinced that because she was pregnant with him, I wouldn't know how to take care of a kid even though I went to the parenting classes, did better than her and work with children.

Maybe that's why when I woke up on the first day of school, she wasn't the first person on my mind. That spot was filled by Regulus.

Yesterday he was oddly nice and truly proved he's changed a lot since our secondary school years. I definitely see us becoming close friends and colleagues as the year goes on.

I got ready for the day and ate breakfast while reading the news. It was just talking about the students coming back to Hogwarts and a bit of quidditch news.

The students only arrived at nightfall so I still had time today to set up my classroom and make the final touches on my classes.

I sat at my desk until 2pm when there was a knock on the door. I look up to see Regulus' head peaking from the doorway.

"Hi!" I said smiling.

"Hey there. I was wondering if you wanted to take a break and go have lunch?" He asked.

"Merlin yes! I've been at this for hours and need a break. Where do you want to go?" I asked while putting away my papers.

"We could go to hogsmeade or we could always apparate somewhere" He said with a cheeky look on his face.

"Well, apparating is likely quicker. Lead the way" I said getting up and following him to the courtyard.

He held my hand to apparate.  I felt a weird tingling feeling in my hand when he did. While fighting back my blush, we apparated into London.

"Around the corner there's this amazing muggle burger restaurant. You'll love it, I promise!" He said excitedly before walking towards the busy street.

We ordered our food and sat down in a booth near the back. There was a jukebox playing muggle music and a light up sign next to us.

"I didn't know you were so in touch with muggles?" I said surprised.

"Yeah I wasn't. My parents hated everything the muggles make. I grew up using the M word and didn't know it was offensive. It's not like the Slytherin common room would teach me anything muggle. Everyone in my year who was a Slytherin was a pure blood." He took a bite out of his burger and chewed it before continuing. "It's really thanks to Remus that we found stuff out about the muggles. Like music that isn't awful."

"You don't like the weird sisters?" I said laughing to myself.

"Yes James, I do not like the weird sisters" He said before we both burst out laughing.

After calming down, it became hard to make eye contact with him without blushing. I kept having to reminding myself that I have a wife and child. He'd occasionally give me a small smile. Probably out of discomfort.

"So, you excited to teach at Hogwarts?" He asked finally breaking our silence.

"Yeah, very. I loved school and want to make the kids like it too. Also this way I'll get to see Harry for 7 years and teach him magic." I replied.

"That'll be nice. Enjoy the time you have before he learns hexes. The summer Sirius learned hexes I spent half of it with weird ears or dyed skin. You're lucky you were an only child." Regulus said making me laugh.

"Yeah I remember Remus and I staying up for hours trying to teach him. We would practice them on Peter. Minnie would get so pissed that in second year on our first week we had already gotten 2 months of detention" I said making us both laugh again.

We talked for a bit longer after that but all good things come to an end. We paid for our food and returned to Hogwarts.

At 6pm, the students arrived but since I wasn't head of house I didn't need to go see them. At 7, I got dressed for the dinner celebration.

As I was walking out of the teachers quarter Regulus was too. He was in an all black suit and hair pushed back.

"You look like how you did in year 5" I whispered as we walked into the great haul.

"Oh shut up" He said smiling before hitting my arm as we walked in.

The dinner was surprisingly more boring as a teacher than as a student. When we'd wait as students we'd catch up with our house mates and talk but up here, there really wasn't anything to do. 

Thankfully, the first years walked in after 10 minutes and the sorting ceremony began.

During the dinner, Dumbledore got up and called for a silence as he made his speech and reminded everyone of the rules. Before ending though, he called my name.

"I would like everyone to give a warm welcome to your new defense against the dark arts teacher, James Potter." He said before placing me in front of the mic.

"Oh uh, I was not prepared for this. But I guess all I'd say is thank you for allowing me back here. A few years ago, I was a student here just like all of you. There might even be some of you who have heard my name from older siblings and if so I promise I'm not as annoying as back then. I will not be pranking you in my classes" I said and everyone laughed. "I decided to teach to make sure every wizard is correctly prepared for the world and the occasional war. It's obviously in no one's interest to have another one of those. So if I can have any positive impact on one of my students, and stop an uprising, then I'd be proud of myself. Thank you all so much and I can't wait to see you in class tomorrow." I said before walking back to my spot while everyone clapped.

"Smooth" Regulus said to me as I sat back down.

"Thank you. Glad I can impress you Black" I said smirking

He rolled his eyes and returned to his meal. I kept glancing at him during the meal and found myself staring once. I kept repeating to myself "wife. Child. Wife. Child." To stop myself from giving in.

Ever since my 5th year when I figured out I was bisexual I've wanted to at least try it with a guy. I did and it was great but I was still in love with Lily and went after her.

I guess now that things with Lily were a mess my brain allowed itself. But Regulus is probably straight and in any case it wouldn't be legal.

That night I laid in bed and couldn't get him off my mind. No matter how hard I tried, it would only get worse until eventually, I was hard.

This hadn't happen so quickly since my first times with Lily. I sighed and tried to will it away. Obviously it failed.

I sighed and sunk my hand down my body until it grabbed a hold of my base.

The only images in my mind were his eyes, his lips, his perfectly shaped jaw, his laugh, his blushing. Everything about him became perfect. It's been 2 days.

I moved my hand up and down slowly but quickly started going faster as more of him came back to mind.

I imagined him laying next to me with his hand doing the job instead of my own.

I played with my tip and felt the precum leaking out and the warm coil in my stomach start to unravel as I came.

I was panting and tried catching my breath before reaching over to the tissue box and wiping up my mess.

After that, it was quite easy to fall asleep, even though I felt guilty.
