Ever since Penelope Jackson was a small kid, she had been showing her unapparelled intelligent and maturity. It was always a wonder how she did it.

Between the two siblings, Penelope was much more advanced than her brother, Perseus. When he would lay around laughing and babbling, Penelope would already be able to crawl. When Perseus would crawl, Penelope would already be able to walk.

People would always mention how much more advanced the young girl was to other kids her age and every time, they would praise her. Other people, not her mother though. Penelope knew that her mother was rather disgusted with how she was already so mature and smart. So, Sally chose to put more care and love to the older twin instead. It broke the young girl's heart, no doubt. But, as she was actually a twenty-two years old soul, she decided to just accept it and moved on.

She was still bitter about it, however. The young girl could not help it, as a fan of Percy Jackson, she had always idolized how loving Sally towards the boy, and now that she was inside the world of the Hero of Olympus, the old soul could not help but to hope to be showed and showered the same love and affection. However, it was obviously a wishful thinking.

Penelope Jackson also knew that she would never meet her 'father', the God of the Seas, Poseidon. Every time Penelope overheard her twin mentioning about where their dad was, she would walk back to her room because she was afraid that she would laugh at her mother's attempt to lie. Lost in the sea, a very literal meaning. The first time her mother answered the question regarding her father, Penelope could not help but snort. It was at that moment when her mother thought of her as a freak and started to pretend that she was invisible.

One time, Penelope really wanted her mother attention, the little girl was craving her mother's love, she was about to do anything stupid to get it. So, she sneaked outside of her house and took a seat on a park near the apartment building waiting for her mother to come and get her. The young girl thought that maybe, her mother might actually care about her and would be stressed when she had found out that her daughter was gone.

Nonetheless, her hope was crushed, once again. Penelope had found out that Sally never tried to come and get her; the mother did not even notice her daughter was not on the same place as her.

Now, as a three-year-old toddler, the young baby girl was seen on the corner of the room, trying to piece a rather hard and advanced puzzle together. In front of her was her lovely grandmother who loved her even more than her mother ever was. Penelope knew that her mother did not like her, yes, she knew. If every time her mother would pay her twin brother her undivided attention, her obvious favoritism did not make her understood, she was stupid. Sally Jackson never gave her daughter care and love she deserved, even now.

Suddenly, her stomach rumbled.

"Oh, sweetheart, you must be hungry." The soft voice of her grandmother broke her concentration of piecing the puzzle. No shit, sherlock. The girl bit her lower lip then before nodding her head, her pigtails swinging adorably. Penelope loved and respected the old woman, so she held her tongue back. The only one who ever loved and cared for her, her darling grandmother, the young girl was not about to hurt the woman.

Penelope kept her eyes on the old woman, she watched how she made the baby milk she had fallen in love with, how she would hum a soft tune as she shook the bottle before glancing towards her and smiled as their eyes met.

The day ended with her grandmother tucking her in as well as to bid her favorite granddaughter goodbye because the old woman would not be able to see the little toddler for another month. Penelope kissed her grandmother cheek before closing her eyes.
