As Beverly stepped up to the podium, which peered over a hundred people, she could feel her feelings of sorrow and guilt overwhelm her.

Beverly cleared her throat before reading the speech she had prepared nights before.

"(Y/N) was always the caring one. The one who made sure every one was doing good. She put others before her and had this positive energy wherever she went. And everyone noticed it. She has never failed to make me laugh or cheer me up when I was unhappy. I will never forget the kindness she gave me, and how delicate of a person she was. Even now, she deserves the world, and I couldn't have asked for a better friend."

As Beverly finished her speech she stepped down finally allowing her tears to fall. She quickly ran out of the church and let her feet take her anywhere. She stopped at a well-shades tree and slumped down to the ground. Her body shook from her heavy sobs. She didn't understand. How could someone so perfect be gone?

Beverly heard someone approach her and quickly wiped her tears away.

"Hey..." The person said. Beverly looked up and saw Richie. She smiled and sniffed, looking at her lap.

"Hey, Richie." Beverly whispered.

"May I sit?" He asked, walking toward the leafy area next to Beverly. Beverly nodded and Richie lowered himself.

A heavy silence occupied the both of them. Richie wanted to say something but didn't know what.

"I miss her, too. She was- is my wife and the mother of my children. I would do anything to have just one more second with her. To tell her I love her and how amazing she is." Richie said, his voice cracking every couple of words.

Beverly understood everyone missed (Y/N). She knows every person in that church knew her. They were all so lucky to have known such an excellent person.

"Did you know?" Beverly questioned after a couple of minutes.

Beverly could see Richie tense up in the corner of her eye. He was silent for a moment, thinking how to respond.

"No. I mean, how could any of us had known? She never talked about how she was feeling. She was so occupied with helping others, she never acknowledged the pain she was in."

Beverly nodded sadly. She subconsciously picked at her cuticles.

"She talked about you a lot. (Y/N) did." Richie said, flicking the leaves that surroundi him.

Beverly was silent, not knowing how to respond.

"I hate myself for not reading the signs," Beverly choked out. "I mean, she was my best friend. I loved her. She taught me to see the best in every one and to never take things for granted. But fuck her for not teaching me how to live without her. How to sleep without those gossipy phone calls we had every night. How to laugh or- or smile! How could she?! I don't understand!"

Beverly was upset. Richie was taken aback at her behavior and don't know how to react. He hugs her and squeezes his eyes shut, wanting to be strong for Beverly.

Richie and Beverly sat, crying in each other's arms. Neither of them wanted to let go.

After several minutes, Richie finally pulled away.

"Uh, I almost forgot," Richie dug his hand in his pocket, sniffing. "She would have wanted you to have this."

Beverly holds out her hand. When she sees what Richie puts on her hand, she gasps.

It was the necklace Beverly had given to (Y/N) when they were 10. It was a moon necklace with the word 'Love' engraved along the top part of the moon. Beverly tightly closed her hand and held it close to her chest as she began sobbing once more.

In that moment, Beverly decided to do right by (Y/N)'s memory. She would be who she wants to be and love life to the fullest.
