Life before the apocolypse was good. Great, even.

Bsck then, I was happy. With my mom, dad, and brother and sister. I miss them so much. I remember when the world went to crap. We had just celebrated my 17th birthday. That was the last time I saw my family together.

I lost my family that day. One of the Walkers got in our home, took their lives in front of me. I cried and cried, covered in their blood. I'd never seen anything like it. Their flesh ripping off the bone while I was forced to watch. Their screams. Their terrible screams.

Now, I live in constant fear for my life. Always wonder when my next meal will be, and wonder what's around every corner I have to take.

But I made ends meet. I would scavenge abandoned buildings, hoping to find any sign of food, shelter, or clothing. Sometimes I turned up empty handed, but I kept looking until I found even one thing to assure my survival.

I tried my best to stay away from others. Everything started going crazy, and so did the people. I had a couple of runs ins with good people, and not so good people. I ultimately decided it was better to be safe than sorry and avoided any contact with my own species.

Today was like any other day. With my pistol ready and bag waiting to be filled, I slowly and carefully make my way through the aisles of an abandoned supermarket I found. Most were empty and vacant. Mostly just lots of really expired food.

I finally stumbled along an aisle that had some leftover cans of peas and vegetarian chili. I guess even after the world ends, people still care about their morals. Stuffing my bag with every can, I hear something clink from the far end of the store.

I quickly finish stuffing my bag and zip it up. I unholster my knife and make my way down to the end of the store. I stumble across a couple of Walkers, and quickly take them out.

I finally make it to the aisle Im sure the sound came from, and see nothing.

Feeling relieved, the grip on my knife loosens and only then do I realize I was holding my breath. As I turn around, something catches my eye. I see a dark figure retreat back behind a shelf

I wasnt sure what it was. Or if it was even something to worry about.

But I could hear heavy breathing, so it wasn't a walker. But that doesnt mean its not a threat. I soon realized it was a human.

I put my knife away and pretended to be unaware of their presence. I pretended to look down a particular aisle and soon saw the back of a head. I grab my knife once more.

Sneaking up on the unaware person, I grab their shirt and pull them to an office a few feet away. I kick the door closed and hold the blade of the knife to their neck. They squeal in fear and try to fight my tight hold on them.

"Who are you and why did you follow me?" I demanded.

Only then did I see what the person looked like. It was a boy, around my age. He has curly brown hair, deep chocolate eyes, a medium build, and a look of pure terror on their face.

"I-I wasn't! I swear," He panicked. "Listen I'm just looking for my sister. I don't mean any harm."

He sturggles against the knife as I glare into his eyes. I dig the knife deeper into his neck

"Just please dont hurt me!" He cries out.

I take a deep breath and remove the knife from his neck, as well as the hold i have on his very dirty and torn shirt.

"Pathetic." I mutter, as I turn on my heel and walk out the door.

I hear footsteps that aren't my own and whip around whilst grabbing my knife, thinking it was a Walker. It was the boy.

"Leave me alone!" I demanded, and start leaving. I feel a hand pull my arm.

"Hear me out. We can help each other." I cocked my head to the side. "Listen, i really need to find my sister. Her name's Elley. She's not even 9 yet. Please. She's all I got. A-And I know you need help finding food. I saw you. I'm really fast. I can get you food in 5 minutes. I don't care how dangerous. I just need to find my sister."

As pathetic and pitiful his begging is, I can't help but feel bad for him. I get it. I miss my sister, and if there was any chance she was alive, I would want all the help I could get to help find her.

And he was right. I'm not fast or stealthy. Just really quiet. Maybe we can help each other. Still holding my arm, he begs silently with his eyes. I pull away and groan.

"Fine. We find Elley, you get me food, and I'm gone."

"Really? Oh wow! Thank you so much!" He tightly hugs me and I stiffen. He had to have noticed because he let go of me.

"I'm Stanley. Stanley Uris." He held his hand out. I stared blankly at him and did not take his hand. He awkwardly lowered his hand. "What's your name?"

I roll my eyes and start walking out of the exit.

"Dont push it, Uris."

"Yes, ma'am."
