"Stanley's staring at you..." Your best friend, Beverly, whispered, causing you to give her a look.

You turned to follow her gaze across the cafeteria, and sure enough, Stanley was staring at you with a blank expression. When he noticed you looking, he turned his attention to his other friends.

"Well, I'll be damned..." You muttered.

It had been a long time since either of you spoken a word to each other. Ever since they defeated It, he has been distant.

It had taken you. You don't remember much, but you do remember waking up in a hospital bed, all your friends surrounding you. Stanley holding your hand tightly while he rested on a very uncomfortable looking chair.

Ever since that day, everything changed between you and Stanley. It had been little things at first. He wouldn't acknowledge your presence or say 'hi' in the halls like he used to. But more recently, it had gotten worse. He would deliberately avoid you. He'd be careful not to cross paths with you between each class period and be sure not to sit anywhere near you in the classes you both shared.

Suddenly, you were overwhelmed with a feeling of hatred toward the boy.

"I'm not hungry anymore," you sighed, picking up your food and heading to the trash can. "I'll see you in 6th. "

As you walked the distance to your locker, you were studying flashcards that contained information that would be useful for your upcoming biology test.

You weren't paying attention to where you were going and accidently bumped into a solid chest, your flashcards spilling out of your hands.

"Ugh great..." You said as you shuffled to pick up your cards.

Just then, you noticed a hand reach into your line of sight, picking up a handful of cards. You followed your gaze up to meet a specific pair of eyes. You recognized those honey brown eyes anywhere. They belonged to Stanley Uris. Your ex-friend.

"Hey." He said. You averted your gaze and snatched your cards out of his hands and stood up. You quickly turned on your heels, desperate to leave.

"Hey, wait, (Y/N)!" He shouted. You heard his heavy footsteps as he tried to catch up to you.

No, no, no. You didn't want anything to do with him. You wished he'd just leave you alone. Like he did for the past 4 months.

You felt a warm hand wrap around your wrist, gently pulling you back.

Knowing exactly who had a grip on you, you took a deep breath and slowly turned around.

"What could you possibly need? You decided now, OF ALL TIMES, to finally talk to me?? You have got some nerve, Uris," You choked back a sob. "You left when I needed you most."

Stanley loosened his grip on you, pulling your fragile body close to his tall one.

"(Y/N), I'm so so sorry. I was selfish. I didn't think about your feelings. I was stupid and I didn't know about my feelings... For you." He whispered in your neck.

You pulled away, carefully looking at his soft features. His eyes were so hopeful. You didn't know what to say, really. You were stunned and mad and just feeling every possible emotion.

"What do you mean your feelings for me?" You asked removing your arms from around his torso.

"Look, I know I've been a terrible friend. And I don't expect you to forgive me right away. But when you were taken by It, I couldn't stand the thought of losing you. You meant- mean so much to me. And-and I became distant because I was afraid. But I'm not anymore. (Y/N), I love you. So much."

Stanley... Loved you? You? Out of every one in the world, he chooses you?

Of course, you felt the same. You always have, but you were afraid you to voice your feelings for him. You didn't want to ruin the friendship.

Suddenly, you allowed your body to move closer to his, pulling his head down to yours and placing your lips on his. He was shocked at first, but eventually reciprocated your actions.

There was an explosion in your heart. Your body was captivated with this warmth you never wanted to end. You felt a shiver travel down your spine, to the tips of your toes and your knees became wobbly.

Your hands moved to his locks giving them a gentle pull. Both your lips moved perfectly in sync with one another.

As you pulled away, catching your breath, the bell rang. Students piled out of classrooms as you and Stanley stood there, reminiscing about the kiss you both shared.

"And that, pumpkin, is how I won your mom over." Stanley said to your daughter, while smiling up at you.
