The omega prince knocked on the door that separated them and the king of the kingdom. A voice was heard and the door opened with the king's butler signing the two to come in.
The king took off his reading glasses and looked up from his papers at the prince and head of the army. "Good evening, dad," Jeonghan said and went behind the desk, wrapping his arms around his father, causing the older man to chuckle and pat his back. "What brings you here, dear?" the king asked in a calm fatherly tone, which made Seungcheol watch in awe. This was the first time seeing the king so down to earth and not being, well, a king. He looked more like a father, and not a king.
"I want you to meet my soon-to-be mate! His name is Choi Seungcheol. He's the same age as me and is also the head of the army" Jeonghan then lowered his tone and whispered in his father's ears lowly "he is also the alpha that saved me two years ago" the king's face lips curved up and he stood up from his place, slowly walking towards the soldier.
He looked him up and down with a gentle smile, before placing a hand on his shoulder and giving him a warm gaze. "I can't thank you enough for saving the life of my only son. Thank you for saving him. If any of you are in need of something, tell me immediately"
Seungcheol's heart clenched at the warm gaze the other alpha gave him. He wanted to cry and hug him, telling him how much he reminded him of his father. Telling him how his father died protecting the people of his land. But he couldn't. He was an alpha and should show pride in front of his soon-to-be mate's father, and show him that he's more than capable of protecting his son in the future.
Seungcheol reflected the smile on the other's face and nodded in understanding "Yes, my king" the older man smiled and then turned back to his son "So when will the ceremony take place?" the omega prince thought for a bit, and then answered.
"In two months"
The King nodded and looked at the head of the army "Are there any things you need as my son's mate?" the younger alpha looked at the king with a serious gaze. "The only thing I need is the safety of my mother"
"Don't worry about her. She's in good hands in the castle" the king said and Jeonghan nodded his head with a shy smile as he realized that his dream is really coming true.
In two months, he'll be officially bonded with the head of the army, who is also his savior. Jeonghan's eyes sparkled at the thought again and he turned from shy to very excited causing his father to chuckle.
"What's gotten you so excited all of a sudden?" realizing he didn't hide his expression, he flushed red and shook his head. "Nothing" he muttered.
"Look at the time. You should probably start packing and getting yourself ready" the king said to his future son-in-law. "Yeah, I think mom already has plans for tomorrow" the pretty omega spoke, agreeing with his father and Seungcheol just nodded, helping himself and Jeonghan out of the room.
"Your highness" a maid called. "Yes?" Jeonghan answered. "The queen wanted me to inform you that you have a packed schedule tomorrow for the bonding ceremony" "As expected"
"Okay, u got it. Thank you" the maid bowed a left to continue her work as the prince turned to the head of the army. "I'll help you to the gate" Seungcheol chuckled when he saw Jeonghan subtly shift his gaze around the room, unable to make eye contact.
Sooner or later, Seungcheol and his mother arrived home at the village, both weary of the abrupt choice they'd taken.
"Mama" the son called as he sat on the couch still in his suit. "Yes, dear?" the mother answered, giving him a glass of water. "Do you think we'll be able to fit in with the royalty?" he asked.
The raven-haired woman thought a bit before smiling a bit. "It wouldn't be an easy change, but with time, yes" the younger nodded his head, agreeing with his mother.
"Seungcheol" this time, the mother called. "Yes, mama?" he answered. "Do you think you're ready to handle the responsibility of a family?"
"I.." Seungcheol began but found himself cut off by his loss of words. Is he ready? He's not quite sure. Does he want one though? Absolutely. "I'm not quite sure, but I'm scared of something" the son answered. "What is it?"
"I'm scared I'll get carried away with work and not give my family enough attention" the youngest let out after a moment of silence, making his mother nod.
"Why would you think that dear? You—" "Because my job doesn't allow for me to take a break. I want to be there for my family and you, but my job doesn't allow that"
Seungcheol sighed.
"and Jeonghan is the heir so he'll be very busy as well. What if we have children? What will we do?"
The soldier's mother smiled and let out a soft chuckle. "Calm down my dear. You never know what the future holds. Besides, you're your father's son. You'll be fine"
She held his hand. Looked him in the eyes. "and I just know, he'd be so so proud of you if he were to be here"
The two shared a tight and comforting hug before the raven-haired woman got up "Do you want to eat something?" she asked with a big smile. "How about kimchi stew?" Seungcheol replied, mirroring his mother's expression.
i'm gonna love you - d.o, wonstein
