Knock knock.
Seungcheol's eyes grew wide and he moved his head away a bit, his body still so close to Jeonghan's. "I'll get the door," he said, unsteadiness heard in his voice.
Jeonghan moved back as well. "I'll check on the food" he replied, eyes looking right at the boiling pot and not looking back at Seungcheol's piercing gaze.
The taller cleared his throat and left the kitchen, taking a deep breath as he reached the front door. The door was then opened by Seungcheol, revealing his lovely mother standing outside with Mingyu and Hansol beside her.
"What took you so long, dear?" his mother said as she walked inside, taking off her shoes and hugging her son. He kissed her cheek and smiled. "I have someone over that's why. We're making food"
His mother held back a smile and nodded. "Come inside boys. You're no strangers" Mingyu and Hansol gave polite smiles and made their way inside the house as well.
But as they were all walking to the living room, Seungcheol found himself being pulled back by his mother. "They don't know about Jeonghan do they?" she said in a scolding tone.
The son nervously shook his head. "I wasn't sure how to tell them. It came out of nowhere" the mother sighed and told him he'd have to get himself together and introduce them to each other properly now. "Yes, ma'am" he replied.
"Jeonghan" Seungcheol called as he entered the kitchen, leaving the others in the living room. "Yes?" the prince answered, his hair a bit disheveled and his clothes messed up from their previous interaction.
The soldier found himself holding back a laugh at the sight of the other. "What'd wrong?" Jeonghan asked, noticing Seungcheol's struggle to hold back his laughter. "My friends and mom are outside. You might wanna fix this" he said as he signed at Jeonghan.
The prince rapidly tried fixing himself, very embarrassed, making Seungcheol's heart clench at how pretty he looked even when all messed up.
"Here. Let me help" Seungcheol said, hand reaching out to brush his fingers through the younger's hair. "Can I braid your hair?" he politely asked, feeling tempted by how soft Jeonghan's blonde locks were. "Really? You can braid?" Jeonghan joked, but still genuinely shocked. "Surprise, I guess? My mother loves it when I play with her hair"
That just makes you even more perfect.
Jeonghan wanted to say but held himself from doing so. "Go for it then. I'll rate how good you are" he said instead. "You're on," the older said, accepting the challenge. They spent a few minutes in silence as Seungcheol took his time braiding the prince's hair, suddenly loving the size difference between them. Once he was done, he let out a soft tada causing Jeonghan to chuckle.
"Hmm, let's see. It's a bit..." Jeonghan said, trying to find any flaws but only finding utter perfection as Seungcheol watched him struggle happily. "Nevermind it's actually too perfect to even rate"
That made Seungcheol laugh out loud, throwing his head back as Jeonghan joined him, unable to resist it when the older's laugh was this lovely.
"I think the food's ready if you wanna eat together. With your mother and friends, I mean" Jeonghan said after their laughter had subsided.
"I actually want to introduce you to them. They know nothing about this at the moment" Seungcheol said. "How about we eat as I introduce you?" he suggested and Jeonghan nodded, a bit nervous now.
The two took the food to the table and Seungcheol called to say the food's ready. Soon, all five of them were sat around the dinner table, the two boys staring at Jeonghan in confusion.
"Jeonghan these are my friends, Kim Mingyu and Chwe Hansol" Seungcheol introduced as they started eating, the said boys giving Jeonghan a slight bow and a polite smile. "Boys this is...Prince Yoon Jeonghan, my soon-to-be mate"
Mingyu choked on his food and Hansol dropped his spoon. "Oh dear," Seungcheol's mother said as she patted Mingyu's back. "I'll go get some water," Jeonghan said, a bit concerned, and left before his soon-to-be mate stopped him.
Once Mingyu got his water and everyone settled, he asked slowly "Since when?" "A few days ago" Seungcheol answered and the duo just gave slow nods in response. "How long have you guys known each other?" Hansol asked again.
"Two years" "A few days" the couple answered at the same time. The youngest raised an eyebrow as Mingyu asked "A few days or two years?" Seungcheol sighed. "We met two years ago but just started getting to know each other a few days ago"
Hansol's frown deepened "When are you going to do the mating ceremony?" "In two months" Mingyu's eyes widened "Two months?! Isn't that a little too soon?"
"Don't worry, Gyu. Everything is getting planned thoroughly and we're both content with it" Seungcheol reassured his friend, putting a hand over his. "It might be a little rushed but it's for the best"
"I'm just confused as to why you didn't tell us about Jeonghan before" Hansol spoke up, stopping Mingyu from speaking. Seungcheol wasn't sure what to say. He looked between his friends and Jeonghan unsure of what to say.
"Well, I kind of couldn't..."
"Huh?"
"I don't know why but I just wasn't sure when or how to tell you. I've never been put in this type of situation before" Seungcheol confessed, his face flushing in embarrassment, feeling little for the first time.
Unable to hold back, Jeonghan let out a chuckle that he tried to cover by coughing, causing the soldier to look at him with a raised eyebrow. The long-haired prince just gave back a mischievous smile as he ate.
Something about the smile Jeonghan gave to him made Seungcheol's lips turn up a bit as well, his dimples making a slight appearance.
"When are you planning to tell the others?" Mingyu asked, bringing the so-called couple back to reality. "I guess I'll have to do that tomorrow," Seungcheol said after a minute of thinking.
Hansol and Mingyu nodded in response, satisfied with the given plan.
"The food is really good" Jeonghan muttered, trying his very best to not stuff his face. "Eat all you want dear" Seungcheol's mother said with a bright smile as she filled Jeonghan's plate some more.
Seungcheol didn't know why, but he felt oddly complete at this moment. Seeing his friends, his mother, and his soon-to-be getting along well and happily, felt nice.
He wished to stay in this moment for a lifetime.
