Days passed and Jeonghan continued his duties as the prince and heir of the throne. He was always buzzing around with his butler helping him going from meeting to meeting and office to office.

"You have an appointment to visit the new store in the village and the grand opening of another restaurant," Jisoo said as he trailed behind the prince. "Then you have a second meeting with the higher-ups to discuss different matters about the citizens" the butler continued.

Jeonghan sighed before nodding and getting into the carriage. "That's all?" he asked. "You have just one more meeting as well, that one is with the queen"

The prince made a face "A meeting with mother? Why?" He asked in confusion, but Jisoo only shrugged in response.

"Sit down," said the queen to her son.

Jeonghan put on an expressionless expression on his face as he sat down on the seat in front of her.

"What did you need, Mother?" asked the prince.

"I set up a schedule for you to meet the prince of our neighboring kingdom. It shall occur tomorrow evening. Be ready"

"What's so important about this meeting exactly?" Jeonghan asked, suspicious of his mother's actions and words.

"What makes you think that?" She questioned. "Drop the act, Mother. We all know you can't fool me" Jeonghan spat at her, not liking the hideous expression on her face.

The queen then threw her back laughing loudly as Jeonghan gritted his teeth together.  "Look at you all grown up," she said with a smirk. "The neighboring kingdom had offered you their prince as a mate"

"And you..declined right?"

"Of course not! You're going to meet him tomorrow. It's a date"

"Absolutely not happening. I already offered someone to be my mate and he agreed"

"You think that lowlife solider should be your mate and not a handsome prince?"

"Don't speak of Seungcheol like that. He's ten times the alpha that prince could ever be!"

"I shall not allow you to raise your voice at me! This is why you should be with the prince. I don't want grandchildren that disrespect their own queen" the queen said, widening her eyes and glaring into Jeonghan'd soul.

"If you don't like Seungcheol so much, why did you offer him and his mother to stay here? Why did you let me tell him how feel?" the prince asked, disappointment dripping from his voice.

The queen shrugged. "Wanted to see what you were fussing about for the past years. Overall very disappointed with your taste, son"

"You know what, I'm done here. I'm not meeting with that prince. Don't you dare do anything to Seungcheol or else"

"Or else what?"

"Or else I'll leave the throne"

The queen stood up and gasped. "You wouldn't dare!" she said as she slammed her hands on the table. "Oh, I would. And it wouldn't be very pretty"

With that, the prince left the queen alone in fury and returned to his room.

"Try this dear" Seungcheol's mother as she fed her son. "How is it?" She asked, carefully watching her son's expression. "Delicious as usual, mama" The mother chuckled and shook her head. "You're no help, you know"

"I want to add a new recipe to the bakery, but I can't decide if I should go with the cinnamon cookies or the mini pretzels"

"You should go with the cinnamon cookies!" Soonyoung said and Hansol nodded his head as the two devoured the freshly baked goods.

"I think you add a bit more brown sugar to make them softer from the middle" Mingyu suggested. "I'll try that with the second batch" the mother answered, going back to the kitchen after.

"Would you kids like some tea?" Seungcheol's mother asked from the kitchen.

"Sure!" they replied.

Seungcheol sat back, watching as his friends argued about random things, laughing along with them a few times.

But something was up.

He couldn't help but think that there was something wrong with the air like there was tension between them.

The head of the army observed closely and noticed that Jihoon was sitting unusually far from Soonyoung.

"Weird," he thought.

Jihoon saw him staring and tilted his head as if asking if something was wrong. Seungcheol just shook his head in response not wanting to think much of it.

That was until...

"Jihoon and Soonyoung, would you be darlings and help me carry this?" His mother said, handing Soonyoung the tray of tea cups and Jihoon the plate of cookies.

Soonyoung started giving everyone their cup of tea but when he gave it to Jihoon, the cup shook too much in his hand and accidentally ended up spilling all over the younger.

Jihoon gasped and got up immediately.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry Jihoon!" Soonyoung apologized, trying to help the shorter wipe off the liquid but instead, Jihoon pushed away and just left to the bathroom.

"What..was that?" Hansol asked nervously.

Seungcheol got up and followed Jihoon, giving Soonyoung a sympathetic look.
