Luckily, I don't have a fancy life. No fancy cars, no fancy clothes. I'm just plain and simple. An ordinary person, living in an ordinary home, with an ordinary family. No brothers or sisters. No one to call a friend. So I guess I'm not ordinary. I am a lonely girl who needs someone to call a friend. Ordinary people have friends, but I don't. Because I am not ordinary.
I walk home from school and get home fast. I have to be cooking by 3:45pm to start making dinner for me, my Mom, and the new friends my mom made today at the market.
I make it home and run to my room. My clock reads 2:59pm. I do my homework in record time. Like, its the fastest I have ever done my homework! It took me much less time than I thought. I had some time left and decided to start dinner early.
I was in the kitchen getting down a box of noodles when my Mom walked in the door. She was carrying some groceries. I put the box down and ran over to help her.
"Hey Mum!" I say.
She smiles.
"Hello my lovely Saidy." She said back.
I laughed as I took some bags to the kitchen. My Mom always knows how to make me smile. I don't know where I would be without her. She helps me get through the ruff days and makes the good days into perfect ones. But, we are different in many ways.
She has pitch black hair and I have a dirty blonde that is more brown than yellow. She has always been an extrovert and I have always been an introvert. She is the "You have to have rain to get a rainbow" person. I am a "Aww, crap. It's raining. What if it never stops raining? What if we have so much rain, we die? What is the acidic level of this rain?" person. The biggest thing is, she's ordinary. I'm not. But all those differences are just barly skimming the surface.
She comes into the kitchen with me. I drop the bags to the floor and put the pasta in the pot to cook.
I sat down at the table waiting for the pasta to cook. My mom was making the tomato sauce. She had a special recipe for it.
"So, Saidy, how was school today?" She asked.
I shrugged.
"Ehh. It was school." I replied.
I like school and all, but it is super boring. Plus, I don't have anyone to ever talk to during school ,so that makes it even worse. I only go to school because I have to and because I like all the quiet time I get to read. I love books, especially books about the universe. Another reason I'm not ordinary.
Mom put the sauce on the stove and waited for it to cook. She came and sat next to me at the table.
"So, who are these new friends? What are they like?" I asked.
"Well, they are new in town." She said.
I nodded. I ran to my room and grabbed a book. I ran back to the kitchen and sat down again. I opened my book and was on the last chapter.
"Mom! I will need a new book soon!" I said loudly over the TV.
She nodded and went back to her show.
A few hopirs later,All the food was prepared and done. The doorbell suddenly rung. I ran and opened it. In front of me stood a young man and a young woman.
"Ahh! Rose! Nice to see you again!" Mom said walking to the door.
