I've completely finished Death Mark, twice now actually and the more I play it the more I come to enjoy the story and all it's characters though I've found myself liking two in particular.
Mashita, the ex-detective turned private investigator who's the most blunt and sarcastic character in the game.
And the other is the protagonist himself, that probably sounds odd but unlike most protagonists in visual novels he already has a personality and feelings so it's not like he's actually you inserted into the game.
I never honestly thought that I would like the protagonist but after playing through the game twice and having gotten both endings, the normal and good.
The good ending unlocks my favorite chapter even though I hate spiders, the red hood chapter is amazing and honestly very sad.
Also another thing which is very sad is that you find out that the protagonist can't forgive his past self the one he forgot because of everything so he starts living by the name that you gave him at the beginning of the game.
