Chapter 3

NEXT DAY

"Play Ball!" Ham yelled from across the field so everyone could hear him.

Simon was batting first. Ham kept saying stuff to distract him so he would miss.

"Hurry up batter. Gonna be a short game and I gotta get home for lunch." Ham said while punching his glove and squatting down.

Kenny pitches the ball and Simon didn't even try to hit it. "That's one." Ham said while catching the ball in his glove.

Ham kept distracting Simon from pitching, "you know if I had a dog that was as ugly as you, I'd shave his butt and tell him to walk backwards." Bella rolled her eyes at what Ham said. "That's disgusting." Bella whispered to her self.

Ham waved his finger in the air. "The heat, here it comes, strike three your out." Simon swung and missed the ball.

"Come on Simon get your head out of the gutter!" Bella yelled throwing her hands on the air.

"Is that your sister out there in left field? Naked!?" Ham said pointing to Bella. Andrew got mad at the remark Ham had made.

Andrew swung his Bat and missed.

"Shut Up Porter!"
"Shut up Porter!"
Bella and Andrew said at the same time glaring at him.

"Hey hey I'm just trying to have a friendly conversation. You think she's go out with me."  Bella made a disgusted face at him. "Eww no! Who would?!" Bella yelled at Ham.

It was Bella's turn to bat. "Hey girls can't play baseball!" Bertram yelled. Benny punched his arm. "Hey what was that for man." Bertram asked grabbing his arm. "She's one of the best players in town ya dork."

Kenny pitched the ball to Bella. She didn't take her eye of the ball. She swung then...

Crack!

She belted a home run! Bella ran faster than she ever did before trying to make it home even though she didn't need to. She just wanted to show off to the Sandlot kids.

Bella ran up to the sandlot kids in there dug out. "See Rodriguez I'm number 1, and you come in, eh- a close second." Bella said smirking at him.

Benny gave a sweet smile to Bella. 'She is so pretty.' Benny thought to himself. "And yea girls can play baseball dumbass." Bella said walking away.

"What wrong with you man?" Kenny said slapping Bennys arm. "What do you mean? I'm fine." Benny said staring at Bella.

"Your totally swoonin' over the enemies sister!" Squints said. "Shut up squints you guys just get ready to bat!" Benny said frustrated still looking at Bella.

It was the Sandlot teams turn to bat. C'mon show me your stuff." Ham said. He was really getting on Bella's nerves. Bella was pitching.

All of there team hit the balls. When it was Bennys turn he looked at Bella and smiled then winked.

Bella has this weird feeling in her stomach that she's never felt before. What was it? 'I don't have butterflies?!' Bella thought to herself.

She brushed of the feeling and started Benny right in the eye. When she pitched, she pitched him her signature cerve ball. Nobody could ever hit her cerve ball. Some how he did.

Bella's mouth dropped to the floor as Benny ran the bases from getting a home run.

"Whose number 1 now?!" Yeah yeah yelled at Bella. She rolled eyes and went over to the dug out. Yeah yeah got scared and hid behind squints. "scaredy cat" squints whispered to yeah yeah.

"You guys aren't a as bad as you seem. i guess." Bella said walking up to them. "you should play with us sometime." Benny said standing up and walking to Bella. They were only about three inches apart from each other.

"O-oh u-m yeah s-sure maybe tomorrow?" Bella said not sure why she was stuttering. None of the boys heard there conversation. They were all to focused that they had won.

"Sure. Tomorrow. After school." Benny said stepping a little closer. "Hey were going to the fair tonight you wanna come with us?" Benny asked staring right into Bella's eyes.

She knew what was about to happen so she looked away quickly. "Uhm- oh actually me and my brothers team and him are going tonight. Sorry. I'll see you tomorrow though."  Bella said through a nervous smile.

"Oh- ok then see you tomorrow." Benny said. He kissed Bella's check and turned away running to his team leaving Bella blushing more than she ever has before.

"Bella!" A voice yelled behind. She knew whose voice it was. She was hoping he hadn't seen what Benny just did. She turned around slowly looking about at the boy the voice came from.

"What are you doing over here? With these losers." Bella turned around to look at Benny real quick then back.

"Oh- I- I was just Uh trash talking them." She said scratching the back of her neck. "You know Buddie they aren't as bad as they seem." Bella said walking away with him by her side.

She turned her head one last time at the boy who had just kissed her check. He looked back too.  They waved at each other then turned away blushing.

"Whatever." Buddie said rolling his eyes. "If you hang out with them, that makes you a looser ya know." Buddie said shoving Bella's shoulder in a playful way. "Yea whatever. Like I would hang out with them." Bella said with a fake smile.
