--Rainbow's POV--
"Yeah, you're right" I said. "I really should do that."
I kissed Fluttershy on the cheek and flew out the window, leaving her standing in my living room unsure of where to go.I had to do this as soon as possible. I mean, obviously I liked Twilight, but it was not the same as it was with Fluttershy. I did for example not get butterflies every single time I looked at her, and neither did my heart skip a beat when she kissed me.
I knew this wouldn't be an easy thing to do, so I decided I needed to do it quickly. I was just going to fly in, tell her that I really liked her and all but that I felt like it wasn't really working out.
She'd probably be sad, but I think she'd take it pretty well. She is a very calm pony, and it can't be that hard to get a new girlfriend with a face like that... Those eyes...Why was I dreaming of Twilight? I was with Flutters now!
I arrived at Twilight's place and was just about to knock on the door when I saw her through the window. She was on the floor, leaning over something.
I didn't know what she was doing, but I was now really curious. She turned around and I quickly ducked. I could see how her eyes nervously flickered around the room.Whatever she was doing, she didn't want anypony to see it.
Obviously that made me even more curious. I couldn't really see what she was doing from this angle, so I flew up to another window to get a look at whatever her secret was.(And listen here, this may sound like snooping or invading her privacy, but it is after all my girlfriend that we're talking about, so I have the right to be worried.)
I could now see her pretty clearly, but if she lift her head now, she could also see me.
I needed camouflage. I grabbed some sticks and leaves and hid in the bushes, because it would be quite awkward to get caught spying on my girlfriend.I was now able to see what she was doing. It wasn't until I was fully able to spy on her I realized that spying on her might not be the right thing to do.
I looked at what she was doing anyways, right or not, I wanted to know.
She seemed to be writing in some sort of diary. I was looking at the words, trying to get an idea of what she was writing when a drop of water landed in the book causing the ink to flow out. What did that come from? I looked up at Twilight and what I saw tore my heart to pieces.
She was crying. Tears blended with mascara were streaming down her face, her eyes were red and swollen and her mane was messy. She dropped the quill and buried her face in her hooves. She was shaking.
I could not break up with her. Doing that when she was feeling so awful would be cruel.
I couldn't stand this. I freed myself from the branches and flew up to her front door.
I didn't even think about knocking. I mean, who knocks in a situation like this?
At least I don't.I flew right into the room, kicking the door closed behind me.
Twilight turned around and looked at me. She looked like she had been crying for weeks. She had bags under her eyes and her eyes were not at all as beautiful and bright as usual."Dashie?" she sobbed. "What are you doing here?"
"I was going to visit you because... It's hearts and hooves day. And then I saw that you were crying, and now I want to comfort you because I can't stand seeing you like this."
"No I... I'm fine... I can be by myself" she mumbled.
"No you're not. Anypony can tell that you're anything but fine, and I'm not leaving until I know why. You know you can trust me."
Twilight looked at me, and then she started talking.
