We talked back and forth for over an hour until my mum called me down for dinner, we were joking about and got along really well.

"Hi hunni, we have spaghetti and meatballs for dinner" She said placing a plate down

"Thank you, it looks really nice" I told her digging into my food

"Erm Apollo what are you doing? Wait for your dad" She yelled

"I'm sorry" I placed my fork down

We sat in silence for 5 minutes until i decided to speak up "We won the volleyball match, they've never won against Castleford until i came onto the team so that's fun"

"cool hun" She said distracted on our phones

"Bang goes the no phones at the dinner table rule" I mumbled under my breath

"What was that?" She asked looking up from her phone

"nothing, any idea how long dad will be?" I asked

"No idea, we're waiting for him though and you can't get up until you've eaten"

20 minutes had passed, food was cold but father finally walked in through the door

"Hey dad! We have spaghetti and meatballs for dinner" I said excitedly, i always got along with my dad more than my mum although he was never home

"Hi kiddo, it looks nice!"

We sat down and ate dinner, my dad asked how school and volleyball was going, congratulated my on my match today and asked if i made any friends, i told him on Alex and Max.

My mum kept glaring at me and giving me the side eye, knowing i preferred dad to mum.

It was half an hour later and i was on my bed texting Max again.
