Author's Note: Hey my name is Rachel and I love Divergent. This is my first story so please no hate!! By the way, I've also never used wattpad before so this will be interesting....hopefully this story will do okay. If you end up liking this story then please comment, vote, and all that fun stuff. Thanks for reading!! Oh yeah and I dont own any of the Divergent series. The one and only Veronica Roth does.

 Future Author's note: Sorry these first chapters are gonna be crappy. I wrote them quickly and closely to Divergent. Please ignore my many rookie mistakes and please trust me when I say it gets better...and longer. I cringe every time I read my beginning chapters. On that note, please enjoy:)

~~~~~Chapter 1~~~~~
I stare at the mirror into my dark blue eyes. Everyone is always saying how much I look like my mother, except for my eyes. They're my father's eyes. I have my mother's same blonde hair, narrow face, and long thin nose. My mother wanted to name Natalie, after her mother, but my father insisted on the name Ella for some reason.
In the mirror, I watch my mother braid my blonde hair gently. She does not usually braid my hair, but I'm assuming she is doing it today is because I might chose a different faction tomorrow. I let her finish and give her a thank you when she is done.
I quickly change into my regular Dauntless clothes: black shirt and skinny jeans. While I think about the up-coming aptitude test, I add on my eyeliner a little darker than usual and slip on some shoes.
After I'm done, I rush into the kitchen hoping that I will be able to quickly eat something. Just as I run around the corner into the kitchen, I crash into my dad, but most people call him Four.
"Sorry, dad." I apologize and take a step back.
"It's okay. Ready to go yet?" he asks with his deep voice.
"Yes." I answer, quickly deciding to forget about eating breakfast. Only a few days ago, he promised to drop me off on my last day before I chose my faction.
My dad and I walk side by side to the railroad tracks as I start to wonder what faction to chose.
Should I stay in Dauntless? My friends plan on staying here. Or am I better off with Amity or Abnegation? My parents were both transfers from Abnegation. It seems like an okay faction. Kind of boring though. I'm definitely not intelligent enough for Erudite and I lie way too much for Candor. I sigh aloud. Why is this one choice so difficult?
I'm pulled out of my thoughts when I hear the train coming. I get my feet ready as the train comes closer. I run and throw myself in, barely landing on my feet.
My father grabs the handle of the train, easily pulling himself in. He makes it look so simple. I am a Dauntless sixteen year-old and still unable to jump in a train like he can.
We stand near the exit of the train car, not bothering to sit down. The train ride never takes longer than a few minutes. I lose myself in thought again and next thing I know I'm off the train and catching up to my friends.
My group of friends, that I have known for years, are already here so I run up to join their conversation. My friends all bust out laughing at a joke my friend Collin just made, as I stand to him.
"Hey guys." I smile.
"Hey Ella." my friend, McKenzie says.
For the rest of the morning, all they can seem to talk about is aptitude tests, which is the exact opposite of what I want to think about today. I've been trying my best to avoid the subject as much as possible lately. Eventually, my friends and I go to class minutes later and sit down before we are counted late.
A/N: I need to clarify something before this gets chaotic. I'm not sure if you have heard of DivergentRebel's story Divergence but I need to confess that it is HER original story. I saw her story and I thought it would be a good foundation for mine and I used her story to begin mine. Now I need to get something clear- I have introduced new characters and added different conflicts throughout the story to make the story not end the same way as hers and hope you will understand that when I finally finish my story. I have to apologize to DivergentRebel because she has probably gotten a comment and is confused. I apologize to all my readers, followers, and DivergentRebel for this and please, if you read her story, continue to read it because it truly is a good story!
