Author's note: I'm going to try and make this chapter a little longer so wish me luck. Also, I sadly do not own any of the Divergent series, only Veronica Roth does.

~~~~~~Chapter 2~~~~~~~
The aptitude tests are supposed to right after lunch and when we finish we get to go home early. They pick ten people at a time to go take the test. By the time I'm called most of the people are still in the cafeteria and lunch has been over for over two hours. I am not ashamed to admit that it is most likely the Dauntless, including my table, that have caused the delay.
"From Dauntless, Collin Weyn and Ella Eaton." someone announces as Collin makes another joke.
Our whole table explodes of laughter. Everyone at the table doubles over almost in tears. I laugh so hard I fall out of my chair, causing our table to roar of laughter again. As I begin to collect myself, I catch I pair of bright green eyes across the room staring at me.
I stare back into eyes that have a hint of amusement in them. He gives me a slight smile and looks at the ground which makes me realize he's from Abnegation. I pause a few more seconds hoping to catch another glimpse of his face.
I'm awoken out of my trance by the earlier voice, "From Dauntless. Collin Weyn and Ella Eaton." The announcer says more sternly.
Collin slowly stands up from the table and offers me a hand to help me up.
"Good luck." Flashing his confident smile at me.
"Thanks, I'll need it." I say.
"No. You'll do fine." he gives giving me another smile before disappearing into Room 3.
As I walk up to Room 4, the nerves start to set in. I open the door and step in. The first thing I notice is the mirrors on all sides on the walls. I stare back into my own reflection when a young women introduces herself.
"Hi, I'm Lauren. Please sit down." she says smiling.
I nervously sit down in the chair as she begins to put a small electrode on my forehead and arm. I notice I tattoo peek out of her shirt and I relax slightly, knowing she was Dauntless at some point in her life.
I pretend to be interested in the computer next to her, though I have no interest in it at all. According to Amy, one of my Dauntless friends, it calms nerves to focus on one thing instead of the 'big picture'.
"Drink this." Lauren says blankly, while handing me a small, glass vial of clear liquid. I cannot imagine how many times she has had to say that.
Though in my mind I know Dauntless are supposed to be brave, I still hesitate and give her a quizzical look.
"Trust me." she reassures me.
I take the vial and tilt it, slowly sliding the liquid into my mouth. Immediately, my eyes close.
........
When I open my eyes again, I'm back in the cafeteria from earlier. I glance around yet I know there is no one else in here. I'm the only one taking the test. Suddenly, I hear a voice.
"Choose." the booming voice says.
I spin around quickly but no one is there. I turn back around and find myself to face two baskets. One contains a long knife and the other a block of cheese.
"Choose!" the voice repeats.
I instinctively grab the knife.
Why would anyone grab a block of cheese? I think to myself.
Then, the doors open and I hear a loud snarl. I see a huge dog and as it growls, it slowly walks towards me.
I remember seeing a few dogs in the Pit before, and my father would always let me pet them. I used to love dogs, but now standing only a few feet away, I've completely forgotten that memory. Even if I wanted to kill the dog, I never would. I drop the knife, but I never hear the sound of it hitting the floor.
The dog continues to walk closer, then I remember something about being brave when you stare death in the face. Since I am surely going to die, I decide to not look away from the dog. I stare into its black eyes and hold my breath.
If I am going to die, I need to die bravely. The dog inches closer and just as I am sure my face is going to be ripped off, the dog stops growling and licks my face with a warm tongue.
I breathe a sigh of relief. "Good boy." I say, petting the dog.
All of sudden, the doors open again and a little girl comes out.
"Puppy!!" she squeals. She runs towards us and before I can warn her, the dog jumps up snarling.
"No!" I yell and reach out but I'm too late. The dog jumps onto her and attacks the little girl causing her to let out a blood curdling scream. I squeeze my eyes shut and the setting changes.
I'm now standing in the aisle of a store. I look to my right and I see a skinny, middle-aged woman and child walking towards an elderly woman. The middle-aged woman begins to talk to the elderly woman distracting her from her purse. The young child swiftly snatches a wallet out of the older woman's purse and quickly runs away.
The middle-aged women stops talking and glances at me as she walks away towards the direction of the child. The elderly women looks back in her purse and notices the wallet gone. She looks up and catches me watching her.
"Child, come here." she asks.
I walk towards her. "Yes?"
"Did you see anyone take my wallet?"
I hesitate. Should I tell her? I remember noticing the child's boney arms and legs. She looked so young and fragile. I bet the young girl was Factionless. Should I just tell the truth?
"Did you?" the elderly woman asks impatiently. I begin to panic. Then, I realize this isn't real. This only a test.
Looking into her eyes, I say confidently, "No , I didn't see anyone take your wallet."
She leans in closer to my face speaking quietly, "Young lady, do NOT lie to me. Please, I need my wallet."
I stand up straighter and look directly into her pleading eyes. "I'm sorry but I can not help you." I say, walking away. Then everything goes dark.
