becoming a new princess was hard. leaving your old life for a more regal one and adapting to your new level of status—all while trying to maintain yourself.

nothing princess celestia had said or taught would have prepared twilight for this new lifestyle. the new princess would often ponder how her mentor made it look so easy. however, she never really had the time for her own thoughts—too busy with her overwhelming, daily tasks.

she had large wings to grow accustomed to now, and papers to skim over that were currently flooding her work desk. there were new princess duties and royal events to attend, and she developed dark eye bags from working day and night—twilight wondered if she would ever get a break.

she was oblivious that another person also wondered the same—that person being you.

you watched as your girlfriend anxiously paced back and forth in her library; she was waiting for a scroll back from celestia that would confirm her work... and give her more. your figure leaned against the large doorway as you followed twilight with your eyes.

she was muttering inaudible things under her breath—something she tended to do when she grew anxious. you sighed at her behavior, "twilight." she didn't seem to hear you and continued her rambling. "twilight." you spoke louder, though she still ignored you.

you walked over to her and placed a hand on her shoulder, making her jump, "twilight." this time, your girlfriend looked back at you and nervously smiled, "oh, sorry, (name). i didn't hear you."

"i noticed. you seemed really busy pacing back and forth like that." you sarcastically spoke which in return, made twilight sigh, "i know... sorry. i've just been... well, looking forward to princess celestia's reply." twilight turned to face you fully and held your hand on her shoulder with her own.

your face softened at her tired eyes—she was exhausted. truthfully, you were too. staying up late to accompany your girlfriend every night, even if she didn't notice, did have its own consequences.

if you were being honest, you missed her. once she became a princess, she had no time for you and barely gave you any affection, almost never. you couldn't tell her that though—she was already overwhelmed as it was and putting that on her too felt selfish.

you decided you both needed to relax and conjured up an idea. "come with me." you grabbed her hand and lead her to the balcony. twilight seemed confused as you draped a blanket over her shoulders, "wait here. i'll be right back."

you left for the kitchen where you found the tea set twilight had bought you for your last birthday. you remember being so happy and hugging her whilst muttering multiple 'thank you's; you smiled at the memory and prepared the tea.

it didn't take long for the tea to begin steaming—mostly thanks to the simple spell twilight had taught you that same birthday. you hurriedly poured the tea into matching, porcelain cups and walked back to the balcony where your girlfriend stayed.

twilight stood by the railing as she looked up to the moonlit night sky. she looked back at you when she heard the clatter of cups being placed on the table. you gestured to the two cushioned chairs that sat by each other, "sit with me?"

twilight softly smiled at the scene and went to sit on one of the chairs you had placed. you sat down as well and carefully handed her the warm cup of tea—the heat was a nice contrast to the crisp, cool air that accompanied the night.

for a moment, it was silent, a comfortable silence. neither of you spoke and instead, basked in each other's familiar company.

"i'm sorry." twilight whispered, but loud enough for you to hear.

you turned to stare at her. her lips were chapped and her eyes appeared relaxed, weary. her hair was messy and stuck out in places whilst it slightly swayed with the wind. dark eye bags laid underneath her eyes and her hands were a little shaky. the moon's glow complimented her features, and you'd be lying if you said she didn't look pretty.

"you don't need to apologize, twilight. i understand." your voice was gentle and a smile adorned your face. twilight turned to you and cupped your cheek, delicately. her fingers were cold, slender and you relaxed in her touch.

"i haven't made any time for you and i worry you too much. i don't want you to suffer for me." her voice was laced with anxiety and guilt; her eyes flicked between yours rigorously.

you giggled under your breath, "well... we're spending time now, aren't we? besides, it's my job to worry about you." you carefully took her hand off your cheek and enlaced your fingers together.

twilight seemed stunned at your response for a moment before contently sighing, "why are you so good to me?" she muttered. you rested your forehead on her own, "because you deserve it."

spike interrupted with a fake cough. you both looked behind to see him hold out a scroll for twilight. she unrolled the paper and quietly read through the words. spike didn't say anything and drowsily walked back to his bedroom.

"what does it say?" you curiously peeked over to see what she had been reading. "...and with that, you can spend your next week relaxing whilst you can. i hope you enjoy yourself, twilight. tell (name) i say 'hello'. sincerely, princess celestia."

she closed the scroll and looked at you—both of you gave a relieved smile. you grabbed the scroll out of her hands and placed it on the table, "now that you're free for the week, what do you wanna do?"

you looked back at twilight—who was already gazing at you with a loving look adorning her face. she entwined your fingers and pulled you closer by a gentle hold on your waist.

"i want to spend it all with you."
