- in which you and twilight have a magic lesson date
──────────── · · · · ♡twilight has always obsessed over magic—and she's excellent with it as well. you've found yourself fawning over her abilities and skills on multiple occasions; her success with magic drove you to be better yourself.
that's where your idea came from. you sat in the princess's library, watching as twilight practiced a spell she discovered in one of her 'historical magic' books. you stared, fascinated, while she began to form a bright, transparent, purple ball in her hands.
her eyebrows furrowed as she concentrated her magic into her palms—the light gleamed onto her face and began to swirl. twilight began to maneuver her hands to circle the ball of magic. the sphere was spinning and she hesitantly lowered her arms, leaving the magic alone.
twilight smiled as the ball stayed in place whilst continuing to rhythmically spin around. she sighed, "that was harder than i expected." you watched on as the concentrated magic kept swirling, "that was incredible, twilight!"
the princess flushed and fiddled with her fingers. you decided this was a perfect time to act on your idea and looked to your girlfriend, "twilight?" she hummed in response as she put the book back on the shelf.
"can you teach me some spells?" you rested your head in your hands, elbows propped up on the crystal table. twilight turned to you with wide eyes, "you want me to teach you magic?" she seemed shocked by your request, but excitement bubbled in her stomach.
you nodded and waited for her answer. twilight stood still for a moment before it finally hit her. she cheerfully smiled, "i would love to!" the princess couldn't contain her happiness and you giggled at her childish behavior.
"i have the perfect book for you," she rummaged through her library before stopping at a particular shelf and skimmed over the titles. "aha! found it."
twilight dropped the old book on her table and flipped through the pages. you watched as the words flew by, admiring the mass of knowledge.
"here's a somewhat simple spell," your girlfriend quickly read the tutorial. "what does it do?" your voice held curiosity and your eyes were big.
"it's an illusion spell," she pointed to the drawing on the page. "it allows you to make small illusions out of your hand." the diagram showed little butterflies flying out of someone's palm; if you looked closer, the creatures were faintly translucent—indicating it was trickery.
"do you think this is easy enough?" twilight turned her head to look at you; you were still focused on the book. "as easy as it gets, i suppose." you gently smiled at each other.
"okay, let's get started."
—
twilight began your lesson by teaching you basic hand placement and movement. she was a very patient teacher—never getting frustrated when you messed something up and congratulating you when you did something right.the moments you had harder times with her instructions, she tried her best to break it down and simplify what she said. twilight was good at getting you warmed up and ready before you began the actual spell itself.
"picture butterflies in your head." you had your eyes closed as you stood straight in the middle of her library. your hands were in front of you, palms facing the ceiling. "try to imagine them flying—how do their wings move? look at them from every angle." twilight positioned herself behind you, gently cupping your hands together.
"do you see them?"
"yes." your voice was just above a whisper as you concentrated. "good." your girlfriend folded her own hands over yours. "now imagine catching one in your hands; feel it flutter around in between your palms." you pictured her image and watched the scene play out. twilight slowly let your hands go and held onto your shoulders.
"release the butterfly."
you opened up your hands, feeling a slight tingle in your fingertips. your eyes widened as you saw a pink butterfly flutter out of your grasp. twilight smiled as you excitedly gasped and giggled. "i did it." you muttered.
"you did it." twilight laughed. the butterfly circled both of you and flew around the library. you watched the small creature with astonishment; twilight rested her chin on your shoulder.
the butterfly landed back into your palms and you gently closed your hands; when you opened them, the little bug was gone.
after a moment, you turned to twilight, "thank you." your arms wrapped around her neck and she grinned. "you did excellent, (name). i'm so proud of you." she cupped your cheeks and you leaned in close to her face.
"twilight?" she hummed in response, looking between you and your lips. you smirked, a mischievous glint in your eyes.
"teach me how to kiss next."
