*Kenya*

My name is Kenya Davis. I am the mother of Kyonna and Kendall Davis, and the wife of Kenneth Davis. I have an occupation as being a party/wedding planner. I was married to Kenneth Davis who was a Sergeant First Class in the army. Kenny and I met in middle school when my parents moved to San Francisco right next door to him and his parents. After Kenneth and I met we started being study partners and that continued until we completed and graduated from Independence High School. After high school we started to take our relationship to another level and at the age of 20, I had my first child. When kyonna turned six years old Kenny decided he was ready to pursue his dream and enlist into the United States Army and fight for our country. At first when Kenny first told me what he wanted to do, I was skeptical about the whole thought of being without him. Then I gave in and let him know that no matter what happens we will always be a unit .Him and my children are the best things that has ever happened to me. Between Kenneth, God and I no one knows about my struggle with trying to cope with cancer.

My name is kyonna, I’m 5’3 and I am 17 years old and currently a senior at Southwest Miami Senior High School .I have deep dimples that sink even deeper when I smile am light skinned with copper brown, long wavy hair that goes down past the middle of my back. I live with my little sister Kendall, my mother Kenya .I am the captain of the “Never Ending Angels” Step Squad. I have two piercings and three tattoos but all my tattoos have meaning one of them is a music note with a heart which symbolizes my obsession and talent for music, I can sing, play piano and play guitar. The second tattoo is an American flag with my dad’s rank, name, date of birth and date of death. My third tattoo is on my back which is a tree. The tree is going to become full of names, starting a family tree in a few years. But in the meantime the only names that are on the tree is Kendall and my mom. Other than on the family tree I plan to get many more tattoos. I want more because as Johnny Depp says “My body is my journal, and my tattoos are my story.”

Hello I’m Kendall, 7 years old and such a mommy’s girl.Yeah I know most children are daddy’s girls but me I am always hanging under my mommy shoulder . I cook with her, clean with her sing with her and even practice with her. I may only be in the second grade but I have a lot that I am involved in. I am on the cheerleading squad and step team but on the step team I am one of the youngest. On Saturdays when I have time I go swimming for a few hours and jump rope with a few of my closest friends. I go to David Fairchild elementary school and I play soccer with the boys. I know that sounds crazy but I play with the boys because they do not have a soccer team for the girls and since I am that good its approved .Before I joined the team their scores were never as good as they are now. Ever since I have played soccer we have won 2 state championships games.

(6:45 am) (Kyonna POV)

“Come here Miyah, I need to get you ready to go over your daddy’s house.” I said in a playful tone as she started to crawl over to me. Miyah is my first child and she is now six months, she’s already crawling and is now in the process of trying to walk. Her father and I used to be best friends but that all changed when I found out I was pregnant .he denied it so much I offered to get a blood test when she was born to prove to him that he is the only person I have been with. My dream was interrupted by the sound of my phones alarm clock that showed 6:45.it took me a minute to realize it was all a dream when I got up and realized I was wearing my favorite green and white striped pajama shorts with my green tank top…thank god. I don’t know what I would do if I was only 17 years old with a child and I am not even out of high school yet. I continued to sit on the edge of my bed thinking about that weird dream when I realized I had less than an hour to get ready for school. Normally my mom would allow me to drive her car to school or I would ride with Bryce and Candice, but today she had a doctor’s appointment so I texted Bryce and told him I needed him to scoop me up. I walked to my walk-in closet when I looked for something that I could wear. I wanted to look comfortable but cute all at the same time. After about 10 minutes I finally found an outfit. After I picked my outfit out I went to turn the shower water on. I was in the shower for about 20 minutes until I heard a small knock at the door. After I turned off the shower water I wrapped my towel around my body then I began to gather my stuff and began to walk out of the bathroom I didn’t look down and tripped over Kendall’s iPad, soccer ball and teddy bear. I tried to break by fall by putting my one of my arms out and my left leg to catch the floor before it caught me.  “OUCHHHHHH, KENDALLLLLLLL” I yelled as I heard some things crack when I fell face first to the dark brown wooden floor. In less than thirty seconds, my mother ran down the hallway and into my room. ”What happened?” my mother yelled. “Your daughter is what happened” I said as I pointed to all of her items in the floor.

“Kendall Anika Davis get in this room right now, what did I tell you about leaving your stuff everywhere around the house?”   “This is exactly why I took your iPad the first time, because you couldn’t seem to keep your stuff out of the floor in your room.” Kendall picked her stuff up and began to walk around me, when I took the iPad from her hands. She began sobbing as she walked out of Kyonna’s room. When I turned back around to kyonna she managed to wrap her towel tighter around her body then tried to stand up on her own. After she struggled for about three minutes and whimpered for two I knew something had to really be wrong. I grabbed her arm and helped her off of the floor and onto her bed. I observed her wrist as it looked swollen. Between her cries, Kyonna managed to say “mom my left leg hurts really bad. Before I even got a good look of it I went heading for Kyonna’s house phone that was sitting on her dresser. I dialed 9-1-1 “I need an ambulance my daughter has tripped and fell and it seems as if she had broken something.”

“And your address is?” the lady asked.

“9755 SW 50th street”

“Okay there will be paramedics coming your way in the next 5 minutes. “

“Thank you” I said as the call ended.

*Kendall*(3 minutes later)

As soon as I heard the ambulance I ran out of my room into Kyonna’s room to see if everything was ok. I started to feel bad as I seen her sitting on her bed crying. Key is not the type to cry so the whole in my heart began to sink deeper. I heard a knock at the front door so I ran down stairs and as I expected it was the paramedics with a stretcher. The same words repeated in my mind over and over….”Is my sister really hurt, it’s all my fault.” When I walked back up the stairs they were strapping kyonna up on the stretcher so I know this was more serious than I thought.

I apologized twice to key and all she did was stare at me and nod her head. My mom told me to hurry up and put my shoes on so we can follow the ambulance to the hospital. After I slipped on my adidas slippers I ran out to the truck. The whole ride to the hospital was silent but I knew once we got home I was going to feel the raft because my mother kept staring at me but didn’t say a word.

*Kyonna*(now at the hospital)

Sitting on the hospital bed waiting for the doctor to come in the room all I could was sit and think …what bad news they would tell me. As I continued to wait I started messaging my best friends, Candice and Bryce on the kik group chat.

Me: Wassup y’all??

Bryce: You ready?

Candice: I am ☺☺

Me: I’m not going, I’m at the hospital ☹

Bryce: Are you okay?

Candice: What happened?

Me: I tripped over Kendall’s stuff that was in front of my bathroom door when I was walking into my room. I think I broke something because I am in some serious pain.

Bryce: Damn we only have a few days left in school and you done hurt yourself. Lol I hope u feel better though lil mama

Candice: “Aye Bryce imma come scoop you up and we can make our way to the hospital instead of going school.”

Bryce: “Ardd I’m ready so just beep when u get out there”

After about 15 minutes Bryce and Candice walked through the door with flowers and candy. I love my best friends!
