Drowning

Many months later, I was caught completely off guard by a vision.

I was standing on the edge of a cliff, staring down at the crashing waves. When I spoke, I quickly realized that this vision was one of Bella. She took a few steps away from the cliff's edge before throwing herself down into the water below. I didn't see what happened next, as the unforgettable feeling of water filling my lungs took over all of my senses. After two gasping breaths, both just getting Bella water-filled lungs, the vision was over.

I regained my senses, coughing up water from my lungs. Even though I didn't need to breathe to live anymore, the feeling of water in my lungs made me panic completely. Water kept pouring out of my lungs, alerting Carlisle.

"Josephine?" Jasper asked, panic evident in his voice. I tried to speak, but only choked on more water. Carlisle tried to reach me next, but I just couldn't speak through the water leaving my lungs. After another thirty seconds, the water finally stopped, and I took unnecessary deep breaths. Jasper was rubbing my back soothingly while Carlisle looked baffled.

"What's happening to me?" I asked, my voice hoarse.

"What did you see?" Rosalie asked from across the room. She looked worried, as did Emmett and Esme, all three of them looking at me with wide eyes.

"Bella," I started. "She jumped off a cliff. She drowned."

"Bella drowned?" Esme asked, a soft gasp leaving her lips.

"She will." I nodded, reaching out and hugging Jasper tightly. "I never thought I'd have to experience drowning again."

"Shh." Jasper soothed, holding me tightly. "We'll figure out what's going on."

"I'm scared, Jasper." I sniffed, feeling tears I'll never be able to shed in my eyes.

"I think your visions are more intense when they are about death." Carlisle stated, placing a hand on my shoulder. I flinched at his touch, making Jasper turn us away from Carlisle completely. When Carlisle tried to reach out again, Jasper growled lowly. "Your visions might be tied to the water."

"Carlisle." Jasper said sharply. "Now is not the time."

"Right." Carlisle said. "We'll give you two some space."

I heard the sounds of footsteps retreating into the forest, and once they disappeared, I let out a sob. Jasper's hold on me tightened, and he started to sway slightly. I buried my face further into Jasper's shoulder, hoping that more comfort would come from it.

"Josephine." Jasper said softly. "It will be okay."

"I drowned again," I whimpered. "I don't want to drown again."

"You didn't drown again, Josephine." Jasper soothed. "Bella did, in your vision. You can't drown again, it's impossible."

"It felt the same as when I died." I sniffled. "I didn't- I couldn't-"

"It's alright, darling." Jasper said, lips pressed to the top of my head. "I understand."

I tilted my face up, catching Jasper's eyes with my own. He looked worried, slightly panicked, and mostly scared. I took a few breaths to calm myself down and shook my head.

"I'm sorry." I whispered. "I know my emotion-"

"Don't worry about it." Jasper dismissed. "Your emotions affect me most of all, yes, but that's okay. I like knowing how you're feeling so I can help you."

"You don't need to use your gift to help me." I told him, kissing his jaw.

"I love you," Jasper smiled softly. "So much."
