"The sun seems brighter today, or it is you?" Renjun told the one beside him. Their eyes curved as a soft smile painted on their face.
They looked back at him, "What the hell are you saying? So cheesy~." He enveloped the other in his arms, bringing their bodies oh-so close. The sun today does seem brighter, bright to the point he could barely see from the overpowering natural yellow lights. Golden hour, he assumed.
Ring, his phone rang loudly. Turning away from them, he picked up. "Hello?"
"Renjun, it's almost opening time! Where are you right now?!" The person on the other line shouted at him through the phone.
He sat up from his comfy bed, "Alright, alright. I'll get going now." Grunting with annoyance, Renjun hung up the call. After getting a job at a language learning center as a Mandarin tutor, his shifts mainly occurs in the morning. He was also in charge of opening the center during early morning to start off the day.
Life in a new place was difficult to say the least, he's still questioning why he chose to moved to South Korea and attempt to make a career for himself. Luckily for Renjun, he grew up bilingual in both his native tongue and, coincidentally, Korean. The language barrier was non-existent to him. Yet, he was still a foreigner working there.
His workplace wasn't that far from his apartment, about a ten or fifteen minutes walk, depending if he wanted to stop for coffee. Unlocking the building, he turned on all the lights of every floors. At the same time, his colleagues began to clocked in.
His office was on the same floor as a few European languages, most notably a colleague he's very close with, Yangyang. Yangyang, who's a German tutor, share a close relationship with Renjun. It all started when he moved in across the hall from Renjun's office. They met officially at a friendly gathering hosted by one of the English tutor, the two bonded over a game of beer-pong.
Renjun got quite tipsy then since they were having a little drinking game with a bunch of uno cards. Loser has to drink, while the winner can choose which alcohol.
"Renjun, hey! Having a great morning?" Yangyang knocked on his door, peering inside.
Setting up his lesson plans for the upcoming classes, "Yeah sure, been just absolutely amazing." Renjun replied.
"Was that sarcasm?" The other asked in a monotone voice. They been friends for too long, he can sense Renjun's sarcastic comments from a mile away.
Yangyang questioned him again, "Bestie, what is it now? Someone spilled their drinks on you?" The boy was always open to listen to things Renjun had to say, even if they're talking shit.
"No, it's just...I was having such a good dream and it got interrupted by Jaemin calling me to get my ass to work." Renjun complained, recalling about earlier.
"That sounds a little stupid to be upset about but you do you, I guess." It is a bit stupid that that was the thing that threw him off, Yangyang thought that it was something more interesting.
"Here's the thing, I think I saw them in my dream."
"You don't mean?" Yangyang shows interest.
"Yeah, I do mean. I think I saw my soulmate." He suddenly revealed a smile. "I wonder what tattoos we'll receive together." Gazing down at his wrist. Seeing fragments of his soulmate meaning they're close, individuals will receive personal tattoos that they shared with their soulmates when they finally encounter them.
"I hope it's something nice, I got small dandelion when I met mine." Yangyang held up his forearm, a tiny greyish yellow-colored dandelion sat nicely on his skin.
"By the way, how are you two doing?"
Yangyang shyly grinned, "They feed me, love me, the usuals. We're doing well, we got into an argument the other day about my diet but they apologized already so I can't stay mad forever." Turning to his room, "Ah geez, my students are rolling in. I should head back now, see ya!" Yangyang's office were filling up with students, while his were a little vacant.
Soon, his own classes also started. Teaching others his language was fun, he's able to connect with people in his class. The money was also good and you get to make friends, count him in. Renjun final shift ended very late, 10' o clock in the evening, he grabbed dinner at a convenient store and headed home as soon as possible. Hanging around the street at night wasn't really recommended.
Before going to bed, Renjun must check his inbox, emails, socials. An email from his center, stating that he had a private tutoring offer from one of their clients.
Dear Huang Renjun,
there's a client in need of Mandarin lessons. They agreed to pay 30,000 won per private lesson. If you're able to squeeze in, we'll make arrangements to your schedule. We want to hear your answer soon.30,000 won isn't that bad, he decided he'll take it. It's simply just teaching but in private, nothing out of the ordinary.
