You sat in the dark of the night, breathing in the (most likely polluted) air of New York, it tasted a bit like iron due to the oceanic breeze sweeping across the shore.

You glanced over at Nico, wanting to say something (you weren't exactly sure what, just something) but instead you clamped your mouth shut deciding you should just enjoy the resounding silence (but might i say, very awkward silence) for a little longer.

"I can't even remember why I'm here.." you grumpily thought to yourself after about 6 minutes of silence your ADHD now kicking in. You were still a little offended by what had happened earlier.

"This is dumb the bastard won't even talk to me! And what is he looking at?!" you craned your neck trying to see from his angle; yeah no this wasn't working.

The raven haired boy was staring of into space, literally! It was a beautiful night the stars were out and you could see Zoë's constellation shimmering in the sky (yep, you had some connections with the Hunters of Artemis).

You glanced over at the boy again taking in his features, not being able to stay mad at him for even 5 minutes (even though he was being a bit of a dick). His hair intrigued you, it was one of the darkest shades of black you've ever seen, yet it seemed to have a sleek kind of glow to it; the perfect balance of light and dark, good and evil.

You moved on, inspecting his eyes next. Just like his hair they were a beautiful shade of darkness; in fact you could see your reflection in them. But his orbs seemed to be glazed over, not in anyway paying attention to the realm they've been caught in. His eyes seemed to be somewhere else while the rest of him had to remain sitting here next to you. He had dark circles under his eyes, not very prominent ones, but they were definitely there.

You lightly scanned over the rest of his face before he turned towards you, locking his gaze with yours.

"You've had them too..." is all you could manage to choke out a hurricane of emotions flooding through you "the nightmares."

His eyes lightly shimmered as he reverted his gaze towards the ground at his dirt speckled converse.

"Yeah"

You barely caught his reply, making you wonder if he had actually said it or if you were just going insane.

"They're not like the normal ones. They're so much worse, I-I could swear the things that I see are scenes from the future; as-as if giving me, us, the camp a warning, but I-" Nico closed his mouth, lips quivering.

You had the strange urge to hug him, tell him it would be alright, share the things that you've seen with him, but that's the thing everything wouldn't be alright. Nothing is ever alright, nothing is ever just fine, especially in the life of a demigod.

"I'm sorry.. I-I gotta go" Nico stammered while running a hand through his hair before getting up and walking away, back towards the cabins.

Leaving (broccoli a vegetable.. I'm sorry I watched Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs the other day hehehe) you alone to explore the haunting darkness of your mind.
