Luke's head rested on the cold glass of his mother's vehicle, watching the rain pour, and waiting for another strike of lightning to appear. Rain always calmed him. whether it be trickling down, or storming, it always seemed to slow his normally racing heartbeat.

"I still dont understand why i have to go," the boy mumbled while biting his lip ring. It felt strange speaking after such a long period of time without it. His mother sighed and shook her head sadly.

"It's for the best, dear." His mother squeezed Luke's thigh reassuringly, but that only made him more anxious than he already was.

Luke watched as they pulled into a parking lot in front of a large building with only five or six cars. He read a sign by the front door that read, 'For Teens In Need Of Help '. Luke mentally scoffed. He didn't need help. It was one time...

His mother stepped out of the car and opened the door for Luke on the passengers side. He gave his mother a hesitant look then stepped out, getting his suitcase in the process.

Luke took a shaky breath as he stepped up the few stairs at the front of the eerie building. It looked like one of those old mental institutions you see in horror films. The building had white bricks, old windows with paint crumbling off, and rusting chairs on the porch.

As he was looking through windows, he saw a boy lurking down back at him. Luke's skin crawled and kept walking. Once him and his mother got inside and to the front desk, he sat and watched as his mother signed the paperwork. He would have to sign a few times but that was all.

"Alright say your goodbyes, now," the lady at the desk said. Luke looked at his mother pleadingly but still hugged her goodbye. He knew it was supposed to be a kind gesture, but he felt angry she was leaving him. If she thought he was depressed, then why would she send him off miles from home for 6 months? It didn't make sense to him.

They both cried as she left, and even more so when a man dressed in blue came to show him his room.

They probably think dressing the workers in bright colours will make the patients better. Well, if anything, it made Luke want to throw up. He picked at his nails until there was nothing left. It had become a nervous habit ever since he tried to stop smoking.

Yes, smoking is a terrible thing, but it gave him a sense of relief. He could sit back and just breathe. That's all smoking primarily took so he felt it was therapeutic. He's seventeen, he can make his own decisions.

Walking down the halls was a strange feeling. Knowing this'll be Luke's home for half a year. Seeing the same people everyday and having the same roommate every night.

The man in blue led Luke to the room at the very end of the hallway in middle wing of the building. Luckily this means he will be able to look outside the window to see the rainstorm that was currently going on. The man gave Luke a bag full of everything he needed including clothes, condiments, etc. before unlocking the door that revealed a skinny boy, who sat curled in a corner mumbling words Luke couldn't understand. Luke sat on the bed that was neatly made and watched the boy out of the corner of his eye. He didn't want to seem rude, he was only curious.

Luke laid down and closed his eyes. Why was he even here? Why was he sitting in a room with someone who seemed they have lost their mind? Why?

It had been around 10 minutes of complete silence other than the boy mumbling. Luke became irritated and sighed, "so what's your name?"

The boy didn't say anything, just kept rocking himself. Luke blew a raspberry then noticed a box under the boy's bed, with a piece of tape with the words 'Michael's Belongings' on it.
