In Love With a Super Villain (Max Thunderman)

17. Awkward

My eyes flickered open as I slowly woke up. I sat up and yawned. I got out of bed and went to the bathroom to take a shower. When I was gone I got changed into a plain white tee and jeans. I slid on some socks and put my hair into a ponytail.

I walked out into the hall and saw Max’s door cracked open. I walked over to it and pushed it open a little. “Max”, I whispered. I walked in and heard the shower turn on. I went over to the door and knocked on it.

“Phoebe, go away! I’m taking a shower”, Max yelled.

I chuckled a little. “No, its Teddy”, I smile even though I know he couldn’t see me.

“Oh, sorry Teddy”, Max says as the shower turns off. Max opens the door and smiles at me. I examine him noticing that he wasn’t wearing a shirt.

“I didn’t want to bother you. Go back to your shower”, I smile.

“No, no…its fine”, Max said as he walked over to his bed and sat on it. He patted the bed, signaling for me to sit next to him. I walked over to him and sat on the bed.

“So, are you feeling any better?” I ask.

“I guess…it sucks knowing you don’t have powers”, Max says rubbing his arm nervously. I lean in and give him a kiss on the cheek and hug him.

“Why don’t we go see what everyone’s up to”, I say getting up. Max nods and stands up. Max was about to leave his room when I grabbed his arm. He turned around and looked at me confused.

“What?”

“You don’t have a shirt on”, I smirk.

“Hey guys”, Max and I say in unison as we walk in through the door.

“So Ray, why are we here? We have school…remember?” Charlotte says crossing her arms.

Ray then explains everything that happened last night to Charlotte, Henry, and Aubree.

Aubree looks over at Max. “You lost your powers?” she asks as Max nods. “Well, I promise…we will help you get them back.” Aubree smiles at Max and looked back at Ray. “So, do you have any idea of how we are going to get this guy?”

“The guy said he wants Teddy; and we can’t let him have her.”

“Obviously Ray”, Henry says, “Can’t we do this later today? We’re 14 and belong in a classroom right now learning about crap we will never use in our futures.”

Aubree raised an eyebrow and turned her attention towards Henry. “Did you seriously just say that?”

“Yes I did…and I’m proud of it”, Henry smirks and crosses his arms. Aubree looked back at Ray.

“Let him leave. I’ll stay here and help you.”

“Thanks Aubree. Henry, you’re free to go”, Ray says gesturing his hand towards the tubes.

Henry bows down in a freakishly way and walks over to the tubes. He taps his belt button. “UP THE TUBE!”

Aubree sighs, “Anyways…what’s the plan?”

Ray and Aubree changed into their costumes and went to the tubes. When they left we all sat at the couch awkwardly. I knew that the Thunderman’s liked me, but they loved Max more. They would do anything to give Max his powers back, including sacrificing his girlfriend.

“So…anyone want to play some cards”, Max says breaking the silence.

“Uh, yeah…sure”, I say awkwardly smiling.

“That sounds fun”, Phoebe says.

“Well, you old people can play, I’m gonna chase Billy around”, Nora smirks.

“I don’t want you to chase me”, Billy says. Nora stings him with her laser eyes and he yelps. “Okay, okay…” Billy jumps off the couch and starts running around.

“They have one weird friendship”, I whisper to Max. Max laughs and nods.

“You know what…I think I’m going to take a nap”, Mr. Thunderman said.

“I-I’ll go with you Hank”, Mrs. Thunderman said jumping up. I sighed and looked over at Max.

“It’s fine. We can still hang out”, Phoebe says. I slightly smile and Max goes and gets the cards.

After a while we ended up watching Drake and Josh some more (It’s our favorite show). In the middle of the show we heard a scream come from the elevator. The elevator’s doors open to see Henry.

“Hey Henry”, I say smiling.

“Uh…hi guys”, Henry frowned.

“What’s wrong?” Max asked, pausing the show.

“Uh, nothing…except for the fact that I got fired”, Henry said. I could see tears forming up in his already puffy red eyes.

“WHAT?” we all yelled in unison.

“Why were you fired?” Phoebe asked concerned.

“My m-mom caught me on talking on my Wiz-Watch; she said if I didn’t tell her what it was she would take it and find out herself. So Ray said to give it back when he got here. B-but I didn’t think it was a good idea to talk to him in person…so I’m dropping it off early.”

We got up from the couch and ran to Henry. Phoebe hugged him and Max patted him on the back. Henry lightly shoved his way out of us and took his Wiz-Watch off. He put it on the desk and walked over to the tubes.

“Mine as well use this one last time”, Henry said. “UP THE TUBE!”

And then Henry was gone. Poor guy.
