Kuroo was confused, to say the least.

He didn't know what exactly was confusing him but he knew it had something to do with his friendships, not school or volleyball. Well, actually, the second of the ones he had supposedly crossed out slightly contributed to his predicament too.

He knew he was not going to get anywhere if he just decided that his confusion started with volleyball and friends, as that was something that he grew up with since he was little. No, something else was different and he didn't know what it was or what caused it.

Kuroo sighed and deliberately banged his head against the wall.

It was like he was trying to figure out what the independent variable that changed his life was. He wasn't looking for the dependent variable; he already knew what it was, but he didn't know what the independent variable was or were and it just messed with his head.

Great, he was back at square one with practically no new insights and just more questions than answers.

Bokuto was oblivious to most things around him, mostly because of him being unable to read the room.

Even so, it was painfully obvious to him that something was wrong with his friend, Kuroo Tetsurou, and he didn't know what to do.

They met during their first Fukurodani Academy Group's training camp together, which only happened about seven months prior, and clicked almost instantly, becoming good friends and spending a lot of time together. They hung out even outside of practice and just had amazing chemistry with each other.

At that moment, their teams were cleaning up after their practice match and they, Kuroo and Bokuto, were together bringing the net to the storage room.

"Uh, Kuro?! Are you okay?!" Bokuto asked, concern evident in his voice as Kuroo ignored his previous warning and hit his head against one of the shelves.

"Yeah, everything's fine." Kuroo said while rubbing the back of his head. He knew he needed to shock himself out of his thoughts so he ignored Bokuto's warning and hit his head. He probably shouldn't have since the pain hurt more than he thought it would.

"Be careful next time, okay? I don't want you to get hurt."

Kuroo flashed Bokuto an overenthusiastic smile and nodded, "Alright. Thanks for looking out for me though."

The smile threw Bokuto off guard. It just seemed somewhat out of character in that situation and that was coming from someone who was oblivious to a lot of his surroundings.

"Are you sure you're okay?"

"Hm? Why would I lie?" Kuroo asked. He really hoped Bokuto wouldn't see through his mask and he thought that the probability of that happening was unlikely.

"I dunno... I just sorta have a bad feeling. Seriously, if there's anything wrong, you can always tell me. I'm amazing at keeping secrets." Kuroo lightly chuckled and nodded.

"If you say so, bro. I guess there is something that's bothering me right now." He sparked Bokuto's interest so he continued, "I've just felt a little confused with everything that's been happening right now. I don't know how to explain it, and I don't know what's confusing me either. It's stressing me out a lot."
