Spring Leaves

Chapter 2

Soon after Bokuto and Kuroo started doing couple-like things with each other, which started in mid March, the latter of the two started acting very weird and secretive, something Kenma noticed. It bugged him a lot and he really wished it didn't.

He just brushed it off as stress from exams week at first until he started noticing a new person coming over to Kuroo's house almost every single weekend, one he didn't know and someone who intrigued him because the mysterious person didn't look like someone who would go to Nekoma.

This person's hair was a mix of black and white, was very energetic and was also someone who Kuroo got along well with. He assumed this person was the infamous 'Bokuto Koutarou' that Kuroo talked about quite often as he matched the description in terms of physical traits and actions.

He understood that their friendship was none of his business and that Kuroo wasn't obligated to tell him anything but as Kuroo's childhood best friend, he couldn't help but feel concerned for him, as his weird behavior only started when they met which is why he, Kozume Kenma, confronted Kuroo about it.

"Are you sure this Bokuto guy is a good person?" Kenma asked wearily.

"Yes, I'm sure. He's a really great guy once you get to know him. A little energetic but that's what makes him, well, Bokuto."

"If you say so..."

"Thanks for the concern but it's unnecessary."

"Alright... Just tell me if anything bad happens though."

"Yes, yes." Kuroo said nonchalantly. He knew Kenma cared a lot about him, even though he always implied it and never explicitly said it, and Kuroo really appreciated it every single time.

"I just want to look out for you." Kenma said, just to make sure Kuroo knew that he was sincere about it.

"I know. Thanks again, Pud-"

"Hey hey hey!!!"

"Ey!!! Bokuto!!!" Kuroo exclaimed, waving his hand enthusiastically at him despite them being in the same room and not that far away from each other.

Kenma flinched at the sudden noise and because he didn't expect to meet the person he was just talking about with Kuroo. After he got over his initial shock, he started becoming more nervous and anxious because he didn't like conversing with people he wasn't comfortable with, Bokuto being one of them.

"Uh, is that Kozume Kenma?" Bokuto asked.

From this phrase alone, Kenma was able to infer that Kuroo talked about him to Bokuto and that he was probably mentioned quite often to the point where Bokuto had a solid idea on the type of person he was.

"Mhm, that's him."

"It's nice to meet you." Bokuto greeted Kenma as he extended his hand out to him. The latter hesitantly shook it only to be polite.

"Well then, Kenma, that's Bokuto Koutarou. He's an incoming second year from Fukurodani and Bokuto, that's Kozume Kenma. He's going to be graduating junior high school soon and is planning on going to Nekoma like me." Kuroo said with a sheepish chuckle.

"I'll be going now. Stream." Kenma muttered as soon as Kuroo finished his statement, slipping past Bokuto and leaving.

"Stream?"

"He's a gamer."

"That's cool! What's his username?"

"It's Kodzuken."

"Alright! I'll check it out later!"
