"Where we going?", I asked looking up at Ray.
"Wait till we get there ma' ".
I sucked my teeth and looked out the window. Here I was, in a car, with a guy I met earlier in a mall and barely knew who wasn't even tryna talk to me. He looked over at me and smiled and then stopped the car, "we here".
I looked around and noticed grass that went on for miles and a few sunflowers here and there, I glanced up and noticed the sky was a dark shade of blue lit up by a million little stars
"OMG, this is so nice!" I gushed. He was now on his back and looking up at the sky, "you gone join?"
I looked at him like he had 2 heads, "in this?!" I said pointing to my skirt and shoes.
He laughed out loud, "Yeah Ma', ain't nobody here but us".
I kneeled down before slipping my heels off and layed next to him. He put his hand on my tummy, "I like you" he said, not breaking his gaze from the sky.
I turned and looked at him, "Why?" I scrunched my face up, "you don't even know me".
He laughed, "I know your name is Kamaya but just Maya because you don't like Kamaya and that you don't text or call first"
I was surprised he remembered that.
"Do you come here often? " I asked
"Yeah, a lot actually ".
"Why?"
"I like to clear my head here, ya know. Just my own personal happy place " he said as he sat up and looked at me.
"And you brought me here because.. "
"Cause I wanted to formally introduce myself and the club was way too loud.
I smiled because he was just so charming.
He sighed, "so, my names Ray. Just Ray and I love basketball, I like to think of it as my life. My mom, grams, basketball, and my sister are my number one priorities in life. Oh yea, I'm 21 and my birthdays next week, June 22nd. Whata boutchu '?" He asked.
I shrugged, "Well you know my name situation but uh I'm Maya and I dance. I plan on going to a college for the arts, as I just graduated last week and I am 18"
He smiled and laid his head on mine, "see told you I would like you" he whispered in my ear, which made my body chill. I was getting cold and I guess he noticed because he gave me his jacket, he's good at noticing things.
When we drove back to the club I got out his car and unlocked the range. I was about to pull off until he yelled my name
"What?" I said getting a little annoyed
"You gone call me?"
I laughed out loud, "boy, you know how that go. Bye Ray".
He looked defeated, "yea, uh bye Maya".
I got in the house at about 2am and I was T I R E D, I slid my clothes off and got in bed. I texted Alexa to make sure she was cool and then I drifted to sleep.
I woke up at about 12pm and checked my phone to text Alexa back
Me: yo lex, whats the moves foe today?
Alexa: idk RT or Marian Anderson?
Me: Marian Anderson it is, see you soon

I got up and stepped into the bathroom to get washed and then get dressed. I wore a denim button down with some medium washed skinny jeans and my Legend Blue Jordans. I spritzed some body spray on and decided to press my shoulder length hair. I stepped into my walk in closet and looked at myself in the mirror...snapping a pic of course and then I grabbed my bag and keys and headed for the door.
"Nope, where you going?" Asked my mom in her robe .
"Oh, down Anderson with Alexa..if that's fine with you?".
"Of course you can go" she said while smiling "and uh, you can have the range cause look what I got!". She led me out into are 2 car garage which usually only had one but now held a 2015 Ford Fusion.
"Niiccee " I said while examining the car.
"Now we can both go out and party! " said my mom while throwing up her hands, I laughed out loud and gave her a hug before pulling off and heading to Alexa's house.
"Guess what lex? "
"What" she said while fiddling with her makeup.
"This all mine, mommy let me have it!"
She dropped her eyeliner,"Dang! , what mommy gone have?".
"Some new car that's perfect for her just like this is perfect for me".
