Da Som looked around her. No one was there. She had goosebumps all over her body. "I should never have come out of the bus," Da Som muttered. The faint tinkling of bells and purple sparks still floated around her. She walked towards the well, then stopped.
"Da Som," the voice called out again. No one at the bus knew her name. The voice was fluid, like an ancient river, but was laced with a dangerous invitation. Despite herself, Da Som couldn't help looking inside the well and with that, she was pulled into it.
She didn't know when she stopped screaming. But when she looked around, more than hundred tents of different colors billowed against the inky curtain of night. The air smelled like roasted almonds and burnt caramel. There was a faint music playing somewhere far but she couldn't discern the instrument making the music. But this was nothing as compared to what she was seeing. In front of her, standing was the most exquisite human she had ever seen. He was wearing a red suit and his hair were a different shade of green everytime she blinked. His eyes, though, were hazel. He was towering over her 5'1" body.
"He must be at least ten inches taller than me," she thought to herself.
Actually, this certainly-impossible-to-exist human came near her and brought his face closer to her. Da Som could inhale the subtle scent of oakmoss cologne and she was sure he was going to kiss her. Of course, she would punch him later for that but now as if by reflex, she closed her eyes."Actually, I'm eleven inches taller than you," he whispered, somehow his oakmoss cologne was smelling like cedar now, "And what on earth made you think I was going to kiss you?"
Da Som's eyes flew open.
"I'm Kim Bong," he extended his hands towards her, "I am the owner of this circus. Welcome to Circus of Longing." With his saying this, a thousand of miniature stars, purple, pink, coral, tangerine started falling on the ground with each color having a different sound. But this was no time to wonder at the strange things happening around her. Da Som closed her fist, "I want to go back. Where have you brought me? I'm going to report you to police."
"You are welcome to try," his lips curled to a side.
Da Som searched for hours but wherever she went there was another tent blocking her path. She had a strange intuition that there were more people around her but she couldn't see anyone.
"Why? Why? What have I done? Why you're doing this to me?" she screamed.
"Because you wished for it," he suddenly conjured from the thin air.
"Me?"
"Remember, you said you don't want to go to university and you want to stay here."
Da Som stomped the ground, "But I also wished to marry Cha Eun Woo. Fulfil that wish too."
"The thing is," Bong exhaled, "We need a human to help with the working of the circus. The last human here passed on to the other side."
"OK," Da Som said solemnly, "Wait! You need human...then who...I mean what...no I mean who are you?"
"Figure out yourself."
