January 20th - Two weeks and a day after the break-up

"Darling, are you even listening to what I am saying, because otherwise I am wasting my time"

It was hard to hear all of the words come out straight as her aunt talked to her in one end and her mind wandered somewhere else in the meantime.

The situation right in front of her grabbed her whole attention without her intending it, it just did, but even with that, she still had to make some room to pay attention to something else that was bugging her in more than one way, and that she wished she could just drop just like so.

Standing in the middle of a video club, she would be flipping through empty movie cases and wandering around the store unbothered, while at the same time, she carried her phone close to her ear and heard her aunt talk to her about a million things at once, none of those things being anything important that relied on her for one reason or another, all of it being just a bag of things that she would be hearing off later and that she knew, she would be just as  tired of hearing it as she was now. Because the conversation hasn't even end and she was already expecting it to be coming up later, and also sooner than she would like. it was tiring. If she could drop this conversation by the window, she would.

"I am, I promise" she spoke softly, as she looked around the place in nervousness and tried to focus. "Geez- I just- I can't right now, Auntie, I am busy right now; plus, I have to get home and finish a report for tomorrow and finish a script for Monday, I told you, I am sorry but I can't go to Candy's memorial" she explained briefly, looking over her shoulder at her friend and just checking she was still accompanied by someone.

One thing that she was grateful of was still having one or three friends around school, and that she was lucky for them to be so nice to her ever since she arrived to the University of London. Breana, her closest friend around that place, took the time to hangout with her while they could, and followed her around without minding at all that she was completely ignoring her presence for a couple of minutes, so she could listen to her aunt bash at her for a while.

It was nice of her to be by her side in moments like this, having a friend by her side was comforting in more than one way.

"I can't show up alone" her aunt argued at the other side of the line.

"Bring Frank, he's your son" she said back, placing herself in front of the many counters and flipping through a new pile of cases.

"Honey, he's not going to be comfortable. We are all going to be girls there, don't you think being the only boy would be weird for him?" said Aunt Nora with outrage "and check you messages again, I would like to know your opinion, should I wrap Dona's present or put it in a bag?"

She rolled her eyes harder than she thought she was capable to. She knew she couldn't see her, and she was thankful for that, because if she did, she would be in a lot of trouble.

"It's a dog's memorial, I don't think it is appropriate to bring a present at all" she made clear at that question. "Maybe bring wine? It's elegant" she offered instead.

Nora stayed quite for a couple of seconds, she knew her niece was right in all senses with everything she has said, but admitting she was didn't seem like that right thing, not now. She wanted to find the right way to bring her along and get her out of the house to some other place.

"Not bad" she mumbled, slowly. "7 p.m., sharp and ready to go" she announced with a firm voice.

"Auntie, I am very busy, I can't go with you, I am sorry" Alex argued, not containing herself and giving her a harsh tone right away.
