The perfect world

Prologue

This is a society where everything seems to be fine... when it isn't.

Jessie had to hide her face in a mask once she was 12, and she was also not allowed to show love and affection in public spaces. The only reason why human marry eachother is only for humanity's survival.

A century ago, humanity had to move to another planet since the other one, earth, was apparently too dangerous. No one knows why planet earth was dangerous because of the government who has hidden the information of the life before us somewhere.

Once children get to primary school, they have to learn a behaving chart like a poem and recite it once a week. It is very boring and the rules are very stupid. Like the one where people have to wear masks. But that is one of the last things that bothers the inhabitants of the new planet they live on, called Xeria.

There is some sort of hierarchy about their behaviour. The better they behave, the more rewards they receive and the worser the behaviour is, the bigger the punishment gets. For example, if an adult goes against any rule written in the chart and their job is being a doctor, their status will be put a level down and their job will be a doctor assistant. This has caused the end of many friendships between neighborhoods. Why, you ask ? Well, it is very simple. If anyone reports unacceptable behaviour near them, they will receive a lot of money. That's why neighbors usually don't trust eachother.

Here's the so called 'behaving chart'.

1. Once you turn 12, you shall hide your face and emotions with a mask in public spaces.

2. As an adult, you shall set an example and report any unacceptable behaviour from your region.

3. If a child shows too much their emotions when they're 12, they shall be sent to a special boarding school.

4. You all shall be rewarded for your good behaviour.

And these are only the four first rules of this chart. No one honstly knows what kind of boarding schools these are, but there are rumors that they use extreme methods and that they erase the childrens memories, so they won't tell anyone about their life experience in the boarding school.

The richest people are often those who work directly under the government. They are a bit like the police that existed a century ago, the only difference is that they have superpowers like being able to grow plants. There might be other existing powers that we don't know. Only 1 of a 10.000 is born with a power. These people have destiny already decided for them before they can even walk. They have to work for the government, or else they'll go to jail once they are adults.

So, Jessie is a black and small fourteen year old girl. Nothing seems to be normal about her if we look at her family. Her parents don't look like her at all. Jessie's mother is white has blonde short hair and blue shining eyes and Jessie's father is a tall and broad man with brown hair, glasses and green eyes. He works for the government in the biggest city of Xeria named Xeriopolis. Jessie also has a little sister, called Nikky. Nikky is very sweet but sometimes she can be really annoying. Nikky has her fathers green eyes and her mothers blonde hair and she doesn't look like Jessie at all. There are days where Jessie feels like she doesn't belong in this world, like she is too different to be part of this family...
