Part 4: Goodbye, crazy mother!

Jessie stretches her arm out to grab Nikky when suddenly, giant roses grow out of the floor and grab Nikky by her wrists. Nikky stops and is now staring at Jessie, like she is some kind of witch. Not that she is completely wrong. It is now obvious that Jessie does have a power.

'Y-you ? You have-', Nikky screams and is interrupted by Jessie who puts a hand on Nikkys nouth to shut her up.

'Shush, I didn't know I had powers, I mean, I wasn't sure...', Jessie whispers. As she puts her arm down, the roses dissapear.

Anne suddenly gets out of her room, her eyes now blue. 'Nikky is everything alright ? I heard you scream...'

'MOM! Since when do you need a hearing aid?', Nikky blurts out.

'Oh ? You mean the stress reliever the government is distributing? It sends some signals to the brain to calm us down, although, I've been feeling weird these days...', Anne says and looks at Nikky. 'Well, I gotta take a nap. I'm tired, please don't make much noise.' Anne waves goodbye before going back to her room.

'We gotta do some research on that... thing', Nikky says, looking determined.

'Alright, then let's go to my computer in my room.' Jessie waves Nikky into her room, and then they sit together behind the computer.

They search for 'stress reliever truth behind it' and then they find something. It was a black flyer with a picture of one of those stress relievers and under that picture there was a text.

'These stress relievers are nothing but objects to control the mind of the adults of Xeria. Those signals sent to the brain give them orders or make them move like the government wants. They will soon be distributed to every single adult of Xeria. There's a way to stop this : buy a real hearing aid and exchange it against the stress reliever. But don't forget to turn the hearing aid off if your parents can hear. Your parents or friends will then stop acting weird. PLEASE, do something before the government destroys the hear aids of this world. If you wanna join our rebellion, you'll be very welcomed.' That's what Jessie reads aloud to Nikky, who now looks scared.

'Hey Niks, I know what we are gonna do this Sunday~', Jessie says, looking knowingly at Nikky.

This time, Nikky doesn't even bother calling her sister an idiot for giving her such a stupid nickname.

They get out of the house and search for a place to buy hearaids.

'Oi, where the heck do you even buy hearing aids?', Nikky asks.

'I searched it up and you can buy it online if you want...', Jessie answers, trying to hide the fact that she doesn't know in which building they are supposed to go.

'Oh look! I think we should go there!', Nikky exclaims.

They were standing in front of a building called 'ear shop, buy your hearing aids here'.

What an original name...

There's no one in the shop, so they just have to enter and get a black hearing aid that looks like the stress reliever of their mother.

As soon as they get home, they'll just have to wait for their mother to take a bath and then exchange it against the hearing aid.

'Ah finally.', Nikky groans as she and Jessie arrive home.

'Shut it Nikky!', Jessie hisses at her sister.

'Pfft, mom sleeps like a damn stone, no need to be so careful.' Nikky looks now annoyed at Jessie.

'Hey kids! I'm going to take a bath!', Anne suddenly yells from her room.

'Now's our chance.' ; Jessie whispers to Nikky. 'Once she's in her bath, you say ou want to talk to her and exchange the stress reliever against the hearing aid. It is already turned off, so be quick. You'll just have to tell her about your grades to distract her since she won't be able to see you.'

'But why do I have to do all the hard work?', Nikky says, a pout on her face.

'Because you're on good terms with her. Now go!, Jessie says, pushing Nikky towards the stairs that lead up to the bathroom.

'Mom? I have something important to tell you...', Nikky says.

'Oh ? Ok fine then, you can come in.', Anne says.

Nikky opens her door and shuts it quietly. She looks around her and spots the stress reliever on the bathroom sink.

'So what's the problem dear?', Anne asks, making Nikky jolt up with fear.

'Uh well, you know , I wrote a test last week...', Nikky says, slowly approaching the bathroom sink and taking the stress reliever into her hand.

'Yeah, what about it?', Anne asks.

'Well I might get a really bad grade in that test. I have a really bad feeling about it.', Nikky answers, putting now the hearing aid on the bathroom sink.

'Don't worry about it too much dear, you can always get a better grade on the next test. Now let me take my bath in peace please.', Anne calmly says.

'Bye bye then.' Nikky says, sighing out of relief.

'So, did you do it?', Jessie asks, her eyes sparkling.

'Yeah I did.' Nikky gives the stress reliever to Jessie who throws it on the floor and stpes on it. Multiple times. Then, she throws into into the bin, in the middle of paper sheets so no one sees it.

'What's up with being so agressive today ?', Nikky asks.

'Pfft, I'm just relieved to not having to deal with a crazy mother anymore. Goodbye, crazy mother!', Jessie says and laughs. 'C'mon, let's go and eat something. Tomorrow's school, so we gotta go to bed early.'
