From The Past

Their fingertips get swept away, and they are back to how it was three years ago.

Misa watches Sasuke leave out her sight. She has to be strong. The girl took a deep breath before walking her legs and began following the trail. The sunray beams on her skin as she continues moving forward. After another mile, her rosy pink gaze can see the peak of the five faces of Hokage. She made it back. Misa makes her way to the humongous gate, where she caught two Jōnins' attention, Kotetsu and Izumo.

The men thought their eyes were playing tricks, but it was Misa in the flesh. She overhears their loud gasps and can sense their surprised reaction. However, she kept going and enters further into the village. The young kunoichi could hear the large crowd of people when getting closer to them. Once making it to the streets, she observes the cheerful atmosphere of villagers on this gorgeous evening. Her lips curled a pleasant smile. Konoha welcomes back Akiyama Misa.

She begins running through the streets to reach her next destination, home.

As soon as she arrives in the neighborhood, the people all around were stunned by her unexpected presence. Just another block away, Misa continues to run, and right in front of her is the house. Misa wipes the sweat off her face with her sleeve. She starts striding forward and puts her hand onto the doorknob. The girl takes a deep breath at first before opening. Her hand moves the door wide open and shuts it right when she steps inside. Misa does the routine by putting her shoes on the rack before walking to her room.

"Okaeri."

The girl then hears an angelic voice that has spoken. It was her mother. The woman dropped her book onto the floor and has a surprised expression. Misa faces Reiko to show a happy smile. "Tadaima, okaa-san." She responded to her.

With no hesitation, Reiko pulls her daughter into her arms and bawls her eyes out. "We prayed every day and night to see you come home. Our prayers come true." She sobbed, holding Misa tighter. Reiko can feel her daughter hugging in return. The touch that she was longing for since that dreadful wait. "I missed you, okaa-san." Misa has tears streaming down her face. "I missed you too." The mother pressed a soft kiss onto her eldest child's forehead.

The mother and daughter went to the kitchen and started whipping up some dinner. Reiko was a bit concerned at first if her daughter was exhausted when coming here. But Misa denied that she wasn't, and she wanted to help out.

In the process of cooking a family meal, Reiko is curious to know what happened. "Is it true that you were with Sasuke all this time?" She was cutting some vegetables on a cutting board while Misa goes through the cabinets for spices. The ebony-haired girl gives in a response, "Yes, I was." She picked out the item and handed it to her mother. Misa speaks once more, "During the times in the Sound hideout, Sasuke-kun was always by my side. He didn't dare to have me get separated from him. He may sound quite overbearing, but he still has his inner kindness." She takes a seat at the dining table and turns her head to look at the sunset through the kitchen window.

"If his future will only be about the revenge, then he'll be blinded by anger." Misa is worried about Sasuke. She has to admit that he has a pretty complex personality. His overall goal is to release all of his vexations on his brother, but at the same time, he loves someone that disagrees with his pathway to success.

Reiko veers herself to see her child is feeling perplexed. She puts down the materials and sits down with her at the dinner table. She reaches out to grabs Misa's delicate, small hand into a motherly grasp. "Well, first off, I am relieved that you weren't in any grave danger when you were with Sasuke. For the most part, he wanted to protect you, and it's generous of him. But it doesn't necessarily mean I can trust him with my whole heart. Especially after what he did in that last mission of yours and is one of Orochimaru's alliances." Reiko sounded earnest for the reasoning of not trusting the Uchiha.
