The first few days of college had been tedious. Class after class, in a loop. I felt trapped, each day more mundane than the last, and as I sat in my final lesson of the day, English, it was almost a sense of peace.

The rest of my classmates sat picking at their skin or doodling on their work. But for me English was something I could do without fucking up. With my nose stuck between the pages of a book I felt safe.

Before I knew it the bell was ringing, signalling for me to head home. I gathered up my things and tossed them into my black tote and I tossed it over my shoulder.

Effie had already disappeared with Panda so I was left behind, I didn't mind, I didn't, I just felt as though Effie had been distant lately. Pushing me away, I presumed it was because of her mums affair.

As I made my way out of college and through town I stoped into my favourite book store. The owner knew me all too well, I'd been escaping there for as long as I can remember.

I took a look around, while running my finishers along the edges of the spines. I plucked a few of the shelves and handed the owner over the money my mum gave me for food. It almost always is spent on weed or books.

As I made my way back home with my bag a little heavier I slipped my headphones into my ears in hopes to drown out the rest of the world. I walked for a while basking in the sounds pulsating through my ears.

As I stepped up to my front door I heard my mother in the living room, for once not passed out from all the booze.

"Alex?" She shouted.

"Yeah mum it's me," i clicked the door shut behind me and poked my head into the lounge.

"One of your little friends came looking for you, their waiting upstairs." She mumbled before her eyes began to drift shut.

"Thanks ma." I began to trudge my way upstairs, my docs clunking on the wooden stairs.

I gently pushed against my bedroom door, expecting to see Effy or even Pandora. But to my surprise it was neither of them.

There lay Freddie, sprawled out across my bed, fast asleep. His lips curled up into a gentle smile, his dark hair messily laid across his forehead, his right arm resting across his chest. His skateboard lay on my floor by his feet. His chest rose up and down like a gentle tide, each breath as perfect as the last.

I caught myself staring at his peaceful face, I didn't want to wake him from his slumber, but I was curious to know why he was here. My Alsatian Apollo lay across the bed my his feet, his tail wagging back and forth at the sight of me.

I decided to take a seat upon my window bench and do a light bit of reading, I slipped of my boots and lit up a spliff. I smoked while I read, occasionally looking over at the beautiful boy on my bed.

He seemed to wake at the smell of spliff, trust me to like the stoner. He tossed a little but didn't wake for a few more minutes. I hadn't noticed as i was invested in the words before me. I saw him sit up out of the corner of my eye, I looked over to him.

"How long was I asleep?" He rubbed his eye.

"Why are you in my bed?" I ignored his question.

"I wanted to see you." He yawned.

I didn't say anything.

"I feel like you've been avoiding me these past few days."  He shrugged.

I placed my book down and moved to sit by him.

"Im sorry if that's the way it seemed." I told him honestly. "I haven't been doing it on purpose, things have just been hectic lately."

He smiled in reassurance. "Can I ask you something?"

"Yeah." I hummed.

"Where do you go to escape?" He was referencing his own skateboard.

I pointed to my overflowing book shelf and the stacks of books on the floor.

He smiled.

"Alex." He said gently.

"Yeah?" I looked at him. His brown eyes already staring into mine. I got lost for a moment, forgetting the rest of the world, all I saw was him.

He didn't say anything he just looked at me with nothing but kindness in his eyes. He placed his hand on my chin and gently lent in, I turned my head away.

He got up quickly immediately feeling uncomfortable.

"Sorry, I- I thought..." he looked at the ground as he picked up his board.

"Freddie, wait." I spoke but he had already made his way out of my grasp.

"Fuck." I muttered under my breath.
