"Ruby! You have chores to finish! These dishes aren't going to wash themselves!"
"Comiiing!" Ruby shouted back as she fixed her hair in front of the bathroom mirror.
'I wonder what time Axel will be here? We haven't hung out in a while, this should be fun!' Ruby thought as she smiled at her own reflection.
Ruby and her family live in a wooden cabin-like house located in the wealthier part of the district, not too far away from Victors Village. The only reason they could afford such a house was thanks to Ruby's uncle, Qrow and her fathers old partner Raven due to their not so legitimate occupation.

But mysteriously enough, the day Y/n's father was executed for treason, both Qrow and Raven vanished without a trace. Y/n lost a father, Ruby lost an aunt and uncle and Yang lost a mother. Aside from them living in a fairly comfortable home though, this by any means does not mean they're wealthy. They have to scrape up anything to get by. The only help they receive is from Sienna who gives them food and supplies which in itself is dangerous since it's against the law. If a family is in need or wants extra food and other items, they unwillingly have to trade it in for their children's names to enter the bowl for the reaping. It's a cruel system. You can have more food but that then ups the chances of your child being drawn to enter the games.
Ruby then exits the bathroom and heads downstairs to see her mum, Summer doing some sweeping. Her father, Tai was outside, tending to the wilting plants from the cold weather.
"Mum, do I have to do those dishes right now?" Ruby wails.
"Yes dear, you do. You've been putting it off since this morning and it's cluttering up the kitchen." Summer say's.
"But Mum! Axel is coming over soon!"
"Well then you'll have more time with him if you get the dishes done now won't you?"
"But-"
"Ruby...don't make me say it again." Summer gives a stern look as Ruby sighs, giving up the fight that she already lost from the beginning.
"Ugh...fiiine." Ruby heads over to the kitchen, grabs a sponge and runs it underneath the tap.
"I hate doing the dishes."

Y/n and Axel continue onwards to Ruby's house after visiting Penny at the Bakery and acquiring the cookies Axel wanted to give her. Axel was getting increasingly nervous as they started walking through the district square to get to the wealthier part of the residential area.
"Axel just calm down ok? You're stressing yourself over nothing."
"But what if Ruby thinks there is an ulterior motive when I give her my gift? I don't want things to be awkward!" Axel complains as Y/n rolls his eyes.
